Staff were so attentive, friendly and polite. The room was comfortable and spacious. The private onsen was delightful, it was outside but enclosed so you can enjoy the sounds of the crickets outside whilst being in the onsen. All amenities were available, including a nice skin care kit. I’ve seen some folks say it is an older building, but that is its charm. When you are in the baths, it will all make sense. It was clean and the AC unit worked great. I am only sad that the chef was not working as I’ve seen great reviews about the food, but dinner recommendations were provided. In fact, I had accidentally left a backpack in a Starbucks in Kanazawa the day before and was leaving for North America in 2 days. I do not speak Japanese. The staff at the hotel actually called the Starbucks for me and made arrangements to have it shipped to my next hotel in a day and a half!! Had the full Ryokan experience with dinner, breakfast, and our own private onsen. The staff was super helpful and delivered excellent service. We had our bags shuttled to the Ryokan from Hakone-Yumoto and then walked ourselves later.
