This place was amazing! The staff were all so friendly and helpful. We opted for the full dinner and breakfast with a hot spring bath in the room. Everything was incredible. I told the hotel in advance I was vegetarian and I was incredibly well accommodated. The meals were vegetarian, well presented, diverse and delicious. Lots of new Japanese food experiences. The rooms are large and relatively clean, the futon beds weren’t very comfortable (but no futons really are) and the staff were all exceptionally helpful.

The Susukinohara Ichinoyu Hotel in Hakone offers fantastic accommodations, featuring private spring baths as well as access to a larger public bath. The ambiance is lovely, making it a wonderful place to stay. There were also complimentary drinks, including alcohol. The only downside was the tedious trip to get there via a crowded bus, which made for a bumpy ride.

Everyone was so kind, from the front desk employees to the dining staff. They put all of my nerves about experiencing a new culture to rest. I was nervous because it was my first time wearing a yukata, and eating a multi-course traditional Japanese meal. The servers especially were very encouraging and helpful, as I had a new question just about every time they walked by. A lot of the food was new to me, and it was absolutely delicious. I would recommend this hotel over and over again, and I will be returning.
