Pros: Hot springs
Cons: Improvement of indoor hot springs quality
Location: Good access from Gotemba/Mt. Fuji area.
Quality of the outdoor hot springs, although different from before the seismic activity nearby the last few years, is good again.

On a mountain site.

Very close to the Hakone ropeway and pirate ship station. Onsen is good with both indoor and outdoor. Breakfast lacks variety and only available in set. No buffet spread. If you are driving it's a good option to consider, since dinner at hotel is costly driving down a few minute can get you food that can feed a whole family with same price as hotel set for 1 pax. Staff is friendly & helpful.

Alright hotel

Posted 17-Oct-2016 on Hotels
When I saw people saying expensive onsite restaurants, I thought how expensive it could be. Well, it turned out very, very, very... The hotel is kinda old, but in good condition. I stayed in a lake view room, which is large and awesome. There are in door and out door onsens.

Great Stay

Posted 01-Oct-2016
Pros: Conveniently located to visit many attractions at Hakone.
Cons: Rooms are dated. Could do with some refurbishments.
Competent hotel staff who spoke good English. Rooms were big, clean and comfortable. Able to catch good views from the hotel as well.

OK hotel

Posted 29-Aug-2016 on Hotels
The hotel was a bit isolated, took about an hour on the bus from Odowara station but the bus stops right outside which is good. It's walkable down to the cable car and lake but you need to get the bus to go restaurants in the evening. (Not much vegetarian food in the hotel restaurant) The décor in the hotel is a bit old fashioned but the staff are very helpful. If you want to use the hotel hot springs you have to go in naked.

Quiet retreat

Posted 16-Aug-2016
The Palace Hotel Hakone offers good views of Lake Ashi and Mount Fuji on a clear day. It is accessible by bus, and close to Togendi where you can take the Lake Ashi cruise and the Ropeway, but a bit far from shops, restaurants and some attractions likethe Open Air Museum. Our room was luxurious and spacious with two comfortable queen beds, a sofa, a writing desk and chair, and a dining room table with four chairs. The wifi was fast. The bathroom came with amenities by Sheido. There was a problem with the bathtub drainage, resulting in some flooding. The hotel staff was very apologetic and responsive. They investigated and resolved the issue as quickly as possible. Overall, the staff was helpful. They took care of the luggage before check in time and brought the luggage to our room while we were out, provided info about the local attractions, and even printed a couple of e-tickets for me. I would stay here again.

Gross bathroom, in desperate need of upgrade

Posted 16-Aug-2016
Totally overpriced at $350 per night. Cracked tiles in bathroom, black mold (?) around bathroom door, toilet flush, decades old carpet, very far from Hakone town or Gora, no other dining options. Never again!

Too expensive but good hotel

Posted 06-Aug-2016
Pros: Views
Cons: Nothing
Location: Golf course
At $250 per night it was expensive. There are no local restaurants nearby so forced to eat in hotel which was extremely pricey. Otherwise very good hotel
