Felt a bit more quaint and cozy then I imagine maybe some other options or that is just generally the vibe for a small town in the mountains. The alcohol amenity and bar snacks were a lovely touch. The onsen was small but never crowded so it didn’t feel that way. Rooms were big and had everything you could need. Shuttle service available to station each way. Taxi inexpensive. Funicular from station nearby. Fixed dinner menu but food excellent. Breakfast also limited but very good. The hosts were very accommodating, I was allowed to check in earlier on the day of arrival. The onsen was great! The minus about the Gota area is that it’s not offering a lot of dining places. However, the hotel has the restaurant. The food was delicious! The price of the food was almost the same price as the room, I guess to make up for the free booze, but we don’t drink alcohol so it was not really worth the price, the only thing we found to be worth it was the onsens but were divided by gender so as a married couple we were disappointed that we couldn’t use it together!!! ##### Gig Stayed 2 nights in May 2025 ### 8/10 Good #### Liliana 23 Mar 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities The area where the hotel is has a beautiful view of the valley. The rooms are very comfortable and have great amenities. We had to walk the steep climb because the driver left at 6:00pm. We arrived by 6:40pm, they wouldn't give us a reservation for dinner because reservations needed to be done by 6:30pm. Onsen was lovely. There is no food at this hotel unless you’ve made a prior booking at the restaurant. The staff helpfully drove us down the hill to a convenience store to get meal for dinner. If arriving in Gora, it’s quite a hike up the hill, but if you’ve a Hakone Free Pass, get on the cable car and go two stops up the hill, then it’s just a short walk along to the hotel. Very quiet location. Looks like recently renovated. Very limited meal options and rather expensive for what were offered, for both breakfast and dinner. Not buffet style. Can't be having the same English breakfast and French dinner everyday. Restaurants closes relatively early in Gora. Public transportation not very convenient. Need your own car to move around. Walking to Gora station is an option, but the terrain is hilly. Hotel shuttle service starts from 9am and ends at 6pm. Telephone booth next to Information office at Gora station to call for hotel shuttle service. Hotel service is excellent. Onsen facilities were good. ##### BOON POO Stayed 3 nights in Oct 2024 ### 8/10 Good #### Jeffrey 30 Mar 2024 Liked: Staff & service The overall hotel is built upon a much older building. In general, it was very nice but the room I had (1st floor) was dated and very worn looking. Carpets were worn and spotted (by who knows what) which made them look dirty and unkempt. Wallpaper was lifting in places. All the furnishings were scuffed and marred. That said, the beds and linens were clean, as was the bathroom. Just felt quite old and in need of refreshing. The onsen was very nice and just what you would expect.
