Grand Hotel Scarborough

"I have seen the reviews for the Scarborough Grand but thought it was worth trying it out for ourselves to see how accurate they were. I'm glad we did. Conveniently placed for both town and promenade with a handy safe 24 hour multi-storey car park just around the corner (£27 for 48 hours). The Scarborough Grand reception area is lovely and retains much of it's grandeur. The check in experience was one of only a few areas for improvement - we had checked in and paid online so expected the express check in option to be available as stated (ie just given the key) but it wasn't and we were stuck in a queue for 20 mins with a coach party so the online check-in was a complete waste of time. The room itself was absolutely fine - clean and tidy with a sea view and a good tv with nearly all channels available for a change on the East Yorkshire coast ! Only slight downers were the dirty windows and the hot water which took a while to heat up and was then a bit sporadic and not all that hot really. The bathroom was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable enough and clean and we both slept well. Morning breakfast was lovely and everything was kept topped up so no issues at all. The main bar area was perfectly fine but the outside balcony area was just about a no go area with the strong winds. We will be back to try a Family Room with our Grandchildren at Halfterm. Overall our experience was much better than 2.4/5 - more 4 to 4.5/5 but may very well be room/area specific qnd so variable."

"Room was clean and tidy, good amenities especially with the small fridge in the room. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast had a good choice and served very quickly. Ample parking at the rear of the building. Good choice of evening meal, only sorry we weren't there on Sunday for the carvery. Great location in a beautiful small village. Would recommend and stay again."

"We booked Redwood to take my elderly parents on holiday as we required downstairs living due to mobility issues. Itâ€™s a really lovely cottage with everything needed for a self catering holiday. The site is so lovely and peaceful and beautifully maintained . Bistro Nine Eighty does super food we had an evening meal and breakfast there . Itâ€™s a great base to explore the East Coast .A few constructive points would be the step into the living area needs to be made more noticeable itâ€™s quite high and my 85 year old father fell down it , fortunately he landed on the couch ! To the side of the step is the hearth for the wood burner , we almost tripped over this several times . Possibly paint it a different colour as it blends into the wood floor . We felt these could also be issues for children . Dining table is really wobbly when eating ðŸ˜‚ and the couches are very low my parents struggled getting up from them and so did I as an able bodied person .As I say this is hopefully constructive criticism and wouldnâ€™t deter us from staying there again"
