You need to decide your return train at the point of booking your outbound train. We seemed to be the only people in the queue who knew this! Our hotel had advised returning by bus, which runs every half hour, and that was excellent advice, as we could decide when we'd had enough in Palma, rather than clock watching/killing time.
€7 per single journey quite excessive but easy walk down hill back to Port and worth a trip
