Knockranny House Hotel and Spa

10/10 Excellent

"First time staying at Knockranny House Hotel, and I'm already planning when I can stay again. The staff were friendly, engaging and helpful. The property is clean and has a welcoming feel to it. I had a grand deluxe room. It was spacious, comfortable and above my expectations. For me, the bed and bedding were what you would experience in a five-star hotel. It was noticeably better than the average four-star hotel. The meal in the bar wasn't quite as good as it could have been, but the staff quickly dealt with the feedback and were able to sort it out for me. Breakfast was excellent."

Westport Plaza Hotel

8/10 Good

"I honestly would give this a 3.5 rating instead of a 4, but it wasn't an option. This hotel is in a good location, but the rooms are very dated. The furniture is worn and tired. The baseboards, doors, and carpets are dented or torn. The upsides to the hotel are the restaurant and bar are great. The food, drinks and staff were all wonderful. I would not stay here again until they've updated the rooms."

The Wyatt Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Loved the Wyatt Hotel in Westport! Room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Bathroom was clean and had everything we needed. Very nice breakfast. Staff was fine - not overly warm and welcoming, but helped when asked. Parking was usually available right outside the front door. Price was very reasonable! Loved walking around and shopping in town. Nice fine on our way to Connemara."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Fahy?

The best area to stay in Fahy is in and around the village centre, particularly for those seeking convenience and a local experience.

Fahy itself is a small, quiet village. The main area of interest for visitors often revolves around the local pub, which serves as a community hub, and the parish church. It's a very rural setting, offering a peaceful escape.

Couples looking for a tranquil retreat will find the village centre appealing. It provides a peaceful base for exploring the stunning natural beauty of County Mayo, with easy access to the coast and scenic drives. You're never far from a pleasant walking path or a quiet spot to enjoy the landscape.

For families, staying slightly outside the immediate village centre, perhaps in a self-catering cottage, offers more space and privacy.

When is the best time to go to Fahy?

The best time to go to Fahy, County Mayo, is during the summer months, from June to August, for the most pleasant weather and a wide range of activities.

During these months, the weather is generally milder, with longer daylight hours, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region, including the coastline and the Mayo Greenway. While Fahy itself is a small, quiet village, this period allows for comfortable day trips to nearby attractions like Westport and Achill Island.

Couples looking for an active holiday will appreciate the summer for walking, cycling, and water sports. The longer days mean more time to enjoy the outdoors, whether it's a coastal stroll or a bike ride along the Greenway.
