Not a great experience at all. I know we’re in different times at the moment, but it’s seems the Westport coast are making up the rules as they go. As residents we were told we had to purchase a “substantial” meal at one of their restaurants, but could “drink then as long as we wanted in the lobby”. I queried this being that we were residents, and that that I had phoned ahead to check what changes they had implemented since Covid, this part was conveniently left out. There were signs only as you’re checking in when it’s too late to change your booking. I was told, quite condescendingly, that they expected I would know this seeing as it has “been in the news” so much. If that was the case, why bother printing the signs to inform people when they’re there and why allow people to continue drinking after the 105 minutes?
There was no social distancing at all in the lobby, and funnily enough could sit there all evening but without a drink, which just makes no sense. Not the case in other hotels.
Secondly, our room wasn’t ready for 90 mins after check in. Not like we could wait at the bar and get a drink either! We had paid for an upgrade with Prosecco on arrival, that wasn’t in the room when it was finally ready. There was however, hair in the shower, and a strip of fake eyelashes stuck to the desk. The loo in the lobby was a total disgrace, by normal hygiene standards. The hotel was generally grubby, seemed to be more interested in making money than the safety of its guests.
