A great hotel for a stopover enroute to the islands. Ask for a room away from the road, given the traffic noise can be loud. Nice breakfast and staff lovely. A sanctuary from the busy town.

This was an incredible experience!

It was a fantastic trip with great accommodations. The hotel is within walking distance of downtown, and the staff and customer service were top-notch. I highly recommend this hotel and place.

The staff is amazing. Property is clean and the ocean is only 2 minutes away. Shops and restaurants are only minutes away as well. The food is great. The only negative is that they don't have an elevator/lift.

Amazing staff!! I loved how Val remembered every guest's name and addressed them every time she saw them. The hotel is located at a very good location, right next to the town square. The rooms are very botique styled, small but cute! We had an amazing time at Funny lion and would recommend to all.

This is an amazing property that has great water pressure, with comfortable beds! The water is all filtered so you do not need to worry when brushing teeth! The staff go above and beyond! They are courteous, friendly and knowledgeable! It is a safe haven for rest and relaxation after a long day on the water! I definitely recommend!

Superb Friendly Hotel!

Fantastic staff, every single one of them, especially Val and all the others on the front desk, couldn't do enough for you. Room was very nice, great location, great cocktails in the bar.........really didn't want to leave and will be back for sure.

Really great place to stay. Very new, modern and clean building. Only slight annoyance was hearing some of the road noise from our room. Special props to Val on the front desk and the security guard who gave us all the recommendations and made us feel incredibly welcome.

A place that really goes the extra mile for an amazing experience, from great cocktails (hard to find in Philippines), to packed breakfast with our 5am departure, to wonderful polite and friendly staff, and even have a serviced feet rinsing station when returning from the beach, friendship bracelets, a private beach area nearby with transfers I was unaware of before booking… need I go on…

Great staff and private beach bonus

This was a couples scuba diving trip for my wife and I, where the highlight of our trip to El Nido was the staff at The Funny Lion Hotel. Incredibly, every time one of us walked past a staff member we were greeted by name! Whether Zel, Val, Sharmaine, Julie, CJay, Kem and Kim in the reception area or Cham at bar, all of them called us by our name from day one of our week-long visit. Their warm Filipino gesture came along with the delicious local and western breakfast together with daily access to the Hotel's private Papaya Beach, just a short boat ride away at a nearby hidden cove.

Poor communication between hotels.com and Funny Li

Main complaint is the poor communication between hotels.com and The Funny Lion despite communicating with each individually to change a booking. Ended up paying for nights we didn’t stay despite requesting change before cut off date. The hotel itself was nice and in a good location to restaurants

We had thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Funny Lion El Nido. The staff from Food and Beverage, front desk, bar. Tours and even security guard made our stay so enjoyable and memorable. They catered to all of our needs without making us feel overwhelming and we felt like a part of "the family" while staying there. I cant say enough but defintely would recommend and no doubt would stay there when we return again. Thank you Joel, Lilo, C-Jay, Ronnel, Tang, Christian, Ann,Montives and many other staff who made our stay so so wonderful. Miss all of you guys when we left.

From the very first minute all the staff and security treat us so well and made us feel special, and we settled in immediately. The hotel itself, rooms, pool, bar/restaurant area etc were all immaculate, modern and comfortable, and the breakfast, shakes and evening food were great. As it was our first time in El Nido we weren’t too sure on what to do during the daytime, so it was a lovely surprise to find that the hotel offers complimentary access to their own private beach just a small boat ride away - and wow! this was a small piece of heaven that we just had to go back to on the second day. Would definitely recommend staying at The Funny Lion, it’s already on our list for when we plan our next trip to the Philippines. Thank you so much for making our wedding/honeymoon trip that extra special.

Most Fun and Comfortable Stay

My family and I stayed at The Funny Lion - El Nido for four days, and let me tell you…it was the most comfortable, most enjoyable, most fun-filled stay of our whole trip! Let me begin to say that the check in process was superb, so very smooth and the staff were so kind and inviting, all with smiling faces! From beginning and end of our trip there, the whole staff remembered all 8 of our names and anytime they would pass us by they would say our names and it made it so personable! We loved it! The rooms were so very clean and tidy, the breakfast buffet was phenomenal every morning, and the pool was oh so relaxing next to the bar (which by the way they have happy hour and great drinks)! I would like to point out that Ralph and Ceejay were so very courteous and tended to our needs every day the whole day! Surprisingly as well, the hotel offered complimentary archery which me and my family found as a fun way to fill our afternoon for a bit when we weren’t busy! Thank you MM for teaching us how to shoot the bow and arrow!! So much fun! I cannot wait to come to this hotel again and will definitely recommend this place to family and friends!!!

This hotel is brand new (still in its soft opening) and i know it will be the #1 place to stay in El Nido. We stayed 5 nights and were absolutely blown away by the level of hospitality we received. The staff are the most kind and special people we have ever come across in our travels. Our room was well appointed, comfortable king bed, overlooking the pool. We enjoyed dining at the on site restaurant a few times. Breakfast is wonderful. We made the short walk into town a few nights for drinks and to browse the shops. The hotel staff arranged a boat tour for us as well as a transfer to the Nacpan beach which was lovely. Funny lion also provides a short transfer to papaya beach (for hotel guests) which is an oasis of a place- very easy to get to and not busy at all. The water is phenomenal. Run, don’t walk to book your stay here. We are already planning a trip back! Thanks to the staff, we miss you already!!! -Ashley, Colin and Darren from Canada!

Excellent!! Staff is what really makes this resort. Shout out to Val from front desk who literally remembers every single guest name in the hotel. Also, Vince (server/bartender) who took care of us.
