Norton House Hotel

Posted 20-Apr-2016
Pros: Everything.......
Cons: Not sure.....
Location: The park and ride at Ingestion (access to Edinburgh town centre) was excellent giving easy access to the city centre.
Lovely hotel.......close to everything, will definitely come here again. Could not fault the food, breakfast was excellent....the room was very comfortable......we were able to use the road network to tour the highlands and also the city centre. it is ideally located for this.

Great surprise trip!

Posted 07-Apr-2016
The hotel is perfect for a relaxing get away. It's a short taxi away from the airport or a 15min walk if your keen. The inside of the hotel is full of character and the rooms are tastefully decorated and very clean. We ate in the hotel on the first night of our stay which I recommend. The Spa and the treatments are first class.

Great hotel in Edinburgh

Posted 15-Mar-2016
Pros: I like Norton House mainly because it stands in its own grounds, and offers great facilities in quiet surroundings.
Cons: Very little.
Location: Blah.
In Edinburgh to visit my family, and celebrate a bog birthday.

Perfect Family Short Break

Posted 24-Feb-2016
Pros: Everything :0))) the staff made the stay though as they were so friendly and welcoming - it made the hotel feel like home
Cons: Access to the spa without having to go outside?
Location: As mentioned above the hotel is 15 mins from Edinburgh airport and 20 mins to central Edinburgh so perfect for short breaks to Edinburgh.
My husband, 5 year old daughter and I had a wonderful time at this wonderful hotel. The hotel itself was immaculate and the staff so friendly and welcoming especially to our daughter which made our stay that much more relaxing. While the hotel is of very high quality the atmosphere was very relaxed (again ideal for families) and easy going. The staff could not do enough for us and were always on hand to help with any queries. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable - the underfloor heating in the bathroom was a lovely touch and felt very luxurious :0)) the breakfast included in the room rate was wonderful and varied with a cold buffet including everything from juice, fruit, cheese and pastries and a wide selection of hot breakfasts could be ordered at the table. All food was first class. We found the evening meals in the restaurant a little expensive but worth every penny due to the quality of food and the experience in general. The service in the restaurant was first class. The hotel is situated just 15 mins from Edinburgh airport and 20 mins from central Edinburgh making it an ideal location for short breaks to the city. We will most certainly return and have already recommended the hotel to as many friends as possible :0)) thank you for a wonderful stay.

Ottimo Hotel, grande servizio

Posted 11-Feb-2016 on Hotels
Hotel meraviglioso con un livello di servizi d'eccellenza. A 5 minuti dall'aeroporto. Ristorante interno di ottima qualità, bar molto ben fornito. Favolosa la possibilità di avere la colazione in camera a qualsiasi ora e senza addebiti nel caso si parta prima delle 7:00.

Perfect escape from the city

Posted 15-Jan-2016
Although it's difficult to get there by public transport if youre going to Scotland for the first time, it is so secluded and pretty you won't mind. I went in January when it was slightly frosty and the didn't take away from the beauty of the location. Getting to Edinburgh from the hotel is also easy. The hotel itself has very comfortable beds I stayed in one of the upstairs rooms. The staff are really helpful and allowed me to check in early. The restaurant is also lovely, with really great fresh food. Definitely stay there if you want a relaxing break hidden away against fields.

3rd long stay in country hotel outside Edinburgh.

Posted 13-Jan-2016
Pros: exceptionally good, full made-to-order breakfast in included in the rate.
Cons: fine as is. no major improvements needed.
Location: country location. village near Ratko in easy walking distance which features a grocery store, sandwich shop which doubles as post office.ATM w. Cirrus
Check in was smooth. No lift but successful in lugging 30+kg. suitcase up & down 3 flights of stairs. Room was impeccably clean. Room safe was difficult to access due to its position on floor of closet and tendency to entrap tiny objects in door which forced me to call for help. Batteries were dead in safe but replaced after 1 day's wait. Shower and tub excellent. Wonderful array of amenities. Hotel has stopped supplying slippers. Miss them. Housekeeping excellent Breakfast is exceptionally good. No cappuccino as expected as this hotel is in Scotland not Italy. Breakfast staff excellent. Crowded on weekends and/or during wedding events. One clinker front desk man. All others helpful and friendly. Free fruit at front desk. Iron and iron board, very tiny fridge in room. No microwave. Wide screen TV with limited channel selction. Wake up calls can be set on room telephone. Prebooked taxi charged 30 pounds for trip to city centre, but ordinary cab charged only 20 pounds for excact same return trip. Excellent fitness center. Noisy neighbors often.

Wouldn,t rush back to this hotel in peak

Posted 13-Jan-2016 on Hotels
Stayed in hotel before standards appeared to have dropped.Pleasant stay but nothing special about service not very professional. Reception area and corridors cold and unwelcoming. Pretty much left to own resources no offer of help from staff to room and hotel facilities. Buffet breakfast quite sparse we arrived for breakfast 10am not very appealing display of hot food. Bathroom in hotel room very cold couldn't get temperature to work shower hose very dated kept falling down. Got a deal as off season would not be happy if paid prices advertised peak season as not in our experience justifying first class standard for service.

Family Christmas visit

Posted 05-Jan-2016 on Hotels
Flew over to spend Christmas with family and chose Norton House because of its look (stately home) and its proximity to Edinburgh airport and the city. My room was large enough, closet had enough space, bathroom was a reasonable size with a nice selection of bath products. Warning - some UK hotels have a reputation of lukewarm bath/shower water but at Norton House it is lava hot, you could cook lobsters in the bathtub! Best of all, this is a hotel with windows you can open, great if you enjoy sleeping with fresh air, really enjoyed this feature. Restaurant and bar are both good but bar prices quite high. Sadly lacking a business center which is strange for a hotel so close to an airport. Wonderful grounds and walks around the hotel. Highly recommended pool, spa and fitness center. Friendly and efficient staff, housekeeping excellent. I would gladly stay here again and would recommend this hotel for families and couples.
