Gorgeous country house hotel

Posted 18-Sep-2016
Pros: Great atmosphere, luxury bathrooms, very comfortable room.
Norton House combines all the charm of a gorgeous country estate with modern conveniences, comfy beds and super plush towels and robes. The restaurant meal was a real highlight and staff were all attentive, friendly and helpful.

Country living with easy access to the city

Posted 08-Sep-2016
Pros: we loved the setting- country estate- combined with the location- a quick trip to the airport or to town.
Location: location was perfect- a quick drive from the airport and even faster to the local tram station made going to and from Edinburough easy and quick.
My daughter and I were visiting Edinburough on our way to St. Andrews. We loved the beautiful and peaceful setting of the Norton House- combined with the ease of access to the city. I highly recommend Norton House to anyone who wishes to avoid driving in the city, but wants the ease of access. We drove 5 min to the local tram station where 25 min later we were in the middle of the city- stress free! The staff were always incredibly thoughtful- helpful and kind. Breakfast was amazing!

Gute Adresse für ein Flughafen Hotel !

Posted 10-Aug-2016

Lovely hotel and nice facilities

Stayed in a executive double room and was very pleasant....the breakfast was great...only criticism was we had a meal in the evening and for 2 courses we sat at the table for nearly 2 1/2 hrs.

Bedding and pillows poor quality (lumpy). Room replenishment very poor (glasses, towels, shower gel and coffee not replaced on multiple days). Reception and catering staff, communal areas and breakfast excellent.

Disappointing meal at the hotel's Brasserie

Posted 20-Jun-2016 on Hotels
We enjoyed our room but we seriously disliked the Hotel's Brasserie and the food they served us in the evening. It spoiled our mood so much that we lost the desire to go to try out their spa.The meal was overpriced (a price of a starter consisting of a duck egg, two tiny spears of asparagus and 3 shavings of Parmesan of almost £8 is not acceptable). The Butternut soup was bland, tasteless and colourless and I returned it to the kitchen. The main course of slow cooked beef (£16) was also not tasty because it was too smoky: both the beef and mashed potato were smoked and it was too much of a smoky flavour. It was from one extreme to another: either too much flavour or no flavour at all. We would suggest to spare yourself a disappointment and expense of eating at the hotel's Brasserie and eat somewhere outside the hotel before checking in. The first room they checked us in had a large picture of a very big naked woman and was totally inappropriate for a family stay. Fortunately in another room the lady in the picture was more modest and dressed. It would be better if they had pictures of the surrounding Scottish landscape in rooms.
