"A beautiful historic inn!"
This inn felt like a hidden gem! Accessing it was through some VERY narrow cobblestone roads and street parking was a bit off putting, but we were quite pleasantly surprised by the lobby and staff who welcomed us. Our room (Castle View 1) was lovely with a spotless updated bath. We ate dinner in the Resturant and it was excellent, and stopped for a glass of wine in the bar, also good. I wish we had booked a longer stay!

"Central, Quiet, Extremely comfortable and friendly"
This is a rare experience where I really see little room for improvement. This place is basically a bed and breakfast. It has 6 rooms. We were in room number 6, top floor. The room feels cozy (and by no means small) and the bed is very comfortable. In the morning, you get breakfast, my advice is try the blueberry pancakes, extremely yummy. You can see the place is run with love and care. It is a couple of minutes walk away from the Brighton Pier. What I really liked was attention to detail such as: they have a space heater, you can borrow DVDs and watch them from the bed, printer and wifi on every floor and other little bits that big chains don't think about. There are a couple of disadvantages, essentially it is a typical English house with narrow stairs and 3 floors so if you do have trouble walking, just ask for a lower number room :) . Also, there is no reception which can be a disadvantage if you need something in a hurry but they are always available and a phone call away and for me I preferred the privacy. This place is so great that I can only think of a few little things to improve, such as having disposable slippers and even though the street is quiet, double glazing windows would complete the experience to absolute perfection.

"Visit to Brighton"
The hotel was perfectly situated on the sea front and within easy walking distance from the shope, restaurants and train station. The room was generally clean and comfortable but the hotel decor and furniture was in need of freshening up. The staff were helpful and friendly, particularly in the breakfast room.

"Perfect for our minimoon"
We are very glad we booked into the Drakes for our minimoon at Brighton. The decor was beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful. Not to mention their quiet bar had a much better atmosphere for us to enjoy their delicious cocktails without booming music or distractions. It is slightly further away from Brighton train station than we anticipated, but the scenic walk to and from the attractions were pleasant. The only thing is we wish there was an elevator as we stayed on the 3rd floor. It does take its toll on you after walking 21000 steps per day! Thank you again to the lovely team at Drakes for your hospitality. We would highly recommend it to couples looking for a quiet and chic boutique hotel for a romantic mini break.

"Lovely room in a unique place"
Stayed here for one night and had one of the best night's sleep ever. Sheets, mattress toppers, pillows and duvets all wonderfully luxurious. Excellent place for a romantic break. Nice breakfast. NB there is no parking so you have to use the market car park which is a few hundred yards down the hill.
