Malmaison standards and service as expected

Posted 15-Feb-2017
Still undergoing renovation since take over but the Malmaison chic is definitely apparent with the usual high standards. We had some teething problems but these were dealt with promptly and satisfactorily. Lovely location overlooking marina with excellent bus services into central Brighton and beyond.

Nice enough hotel.

Posted 21-Dec-2016
Pros: Location, staff and breakfast!
Cons: Ensure housekeeping staff do not smoke in or near the laundry room. Clearer signage.
Location: Loads of restaurants to take your pick from.
We stayed here for one night during a recent trip to Brighton. The hotel was difficult to find due to poor signage. The first thing I noticed was the smell of stale cigarettes. Even the towels in the room smelt of them. We had a basic room which was quite small and a tiny bathroom. The room was clean enough, but no room to store clothes and toiletries. The continental breakfast was amazing. All the staff we met were very, very pleasant. The location of this hotel was fabulous. We would return, but will book a larger room next time.

Good location for a weekend in Brighton

Posted 19-Dec-2016
Cons: It would have been helpful to be given clearer instructions regarding where to park prior to arrival. We had to go into the hotel to find out.
Location: The hotel is in an excellent location for exploring Brighton. There are numerous restaurants to choose from in the Marina complex
We stayed at the Malmaison hotel, Brighton Marina on Saturday 17th December. I had read some extremely negative reviews posted by other guests in recent weeks so was rather anxious as to what we would find. We were pleasantly surprised with our room (see attached photos). It was an inland room but was a very good size with a huge, extremely comfortable bed. The bedding was crisp, white cotton and we each had two large plump pillows. The carpet looked new. We loved the Ikea style furniture - the coat hangers were very stylish. Someone has obviously spent some time sourcing unusual design items e.g. the moulded chair and the rubbish bin, which was slanted at an angle (so clever). The art work on the wall was also eye catching. In the bathroom there were generous size shower gel and shampoo plus soap which we were encouraged to take home with us afterwards. There was a huge pizza style shower head over the bath with a powerful spray and lots of hot water. We each had large white fluffy bath towels plus hand towels. There was a good selection of drinks - tea (including herbal teas); coffee and hot chocolate plus two biscuits. Another useful addition was the option to buy wine, bottled water and crisp/snacks which were displayed on the shelf above the TV. Another nice touch was the complimentary i-newspaper which we picked up from the area approaching reception. Yes, we could see that there are some renovations going on but overall we felt our room was more than fit for purpose

Disappointing

Posted 27-Nov-2016
Cons: Finish the refurb and improve customer service
Expected a quality hotel with friendly staff as I had previously experienced with malmasion sadly disappointed. Hotel being refurbished which would not have been an issue if staff had been on the ball and attentive. When i mentioned drop of point not easy to find shrug of shoulders. Bar still being finished so when I asked for malt no idea of what available and had to bring out all bottles. Room service did not clean room and when I mentioned at check out I was politely told they would inform room service !!!! An apology would have been nice. Chose the malmasion over harbour house in town on reputation of chain but on this occasion I wish I hadn't

STAYING AT A BUILDING SITE

Posted 21-Nov-2016 on Ebookers
Pros: Couldn't tell you, it was a building site
Cons: Tell Clients that building work will be going on so we can book elsewhere...
Location: Brighton Marina
Arrived to find the main bar being ripped out, works underway and had to step across 3 workmen laying on the floor drilling, Chop saw being used, told by staff works to finish at 1800 hours, still working at 2200 hours I work on Construction sites, when booking MalMaison I certainly do not expect to be staying in one, told other members of party who decided to not come there

Very enjoyable short break

Posted 19-Nov-2016 on Ebookers
Pros: Food and staff.
Cons: Hotel undergoing refurbishment so services and atmosphere were not as good as they undoubtedly will be.
Location: Good bus service into Brighton Centre. All Marina cafes and restaurants close by.
Food was excellent and the staff were lovely, very friendly and efficient - nothing was too much trouble. We look forward to returning when the refurbishment is completed.
