Sandbanks hotel

Cons: Staff
Location: Fantastic location
The Restaurant staff and the service they provided was far below my expectations, and the age group of the other guests appeared to be 70 plus.

Pros: Right on the beach. Fantastic sea view. Good balcony.
Cons: Ill fitting bathroom window. The wing we stayed in was quite a walk from the dining room.
Location: Very good - right on the beach
Only downfall was the badly fitting window in the bathroom which as it was windy let in a lot of cold air. Could have had more bathroom complimentary stuff.

A big dissapointment

Pros: The location
Cons: The rooms and the restaurant
Location: Directly onto the sandy beach on the Sandbanks peninsula - great for kids
Have used the other hotels in the FJB group in Bournemouth, the Sandbanks was the most dissapointing. Apart from the most wonderful location, situated directly onto the beach, the rooms of the hotels need some serious updating. Whilst the reception and bar area have been updated the rooms are very tired. The leisure facilities are awful. The pool facilities are dark, dingy and very uninviting and we did not use them. The only good thing is that you are able to use the other hotel facilities and the Haven has the most wonderful spa, so we used these. The waiting staff were all very pleasant but the attention to detail and serving etiquette were lacking. For a four start hotel we would have expected better. Having used the Chine and the Haven, would prefer the Chine although it is only a three star, beacuse it is run better in our opinion. Would avoid the Sandbanks.

Only good thing is Location, which being right on a fabulous sandy beach, may be enough!

A good family hotel

The hotel was very full large conference and wedding parties being catered for. The room we had was large but was one of the few without a balcony. We thought the furniture looked a little tired but was quite adequate. The seal on one of the windows was no longer working and the window was misty. Hot water took a long time to come through. The service was poor on our first night and we were given a glass of wine to compensate. The service was much better on the second night. The food was good but not great. The position on the hotel is excellent - the back of the hotel is situated next to the beach, the front overlooks Poole Harbour. It has facilities for children and an indoor pool. We thought the decor in the restaurant could be improved and certainly in our bedroom. However we had an enjoyable stay and would consider staying at the Sandbanks Hotel again in spite of the fact that it was a little expensive.

Super hotel.

We arrived late and very tired as had travelled by boat from France. The hotel was a totally lovely surprise. Superb room and breakfast. The view was also great, even in December.... Will be back in the Summer....

Would not recommend !

Great location but 4 star you must be kidding. Rooms very tired, restaurant lifeless and like a large canteen. Food accepatable but for the amount of money this cost for two nights I could do better things with in better places.
