Top Dorio Hotel Reviews

LUGANODANTE Boutique & Lifestyle Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The property was exceptionally clean, and the staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming. The location was excellent, just a short walk from the lake and surrounded by great shopping opportunities, including luxury designer boutiques such as Hermès. The breakfast area and restaurant were both excellent, offering a lovely atmosphere and a delicious variety of food. We truly enjoyed the dining experience. The only downside, which may have simply been bad luck during our stay, was some construction work taking place in the street directly opposite the hotel. The noise started early in the morning and was a little disturbing. However, this was a temporary inconvenience, and overall, our experience was excellent. We would happily recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again!"

Hotel Beretta

10/10 Excellent

"Although I booked a partial lake view and did not receive that, everything was cool! I was told when I sent a message that it was not guaranteed (which I don’t get it!) but besides that, the hotel check-in was easy, staff was friendly & room was clean (had a few blemish $ however, did not effect me! Also, note; the shower is very small so keep in mind if on the heavy side! It’s just limited space to move around! Not sure how the other showers are but I had room #4 on 1st floor! Anywho, was very conveniently located! Would stay again, Ty!"

Grand Hotel Menaggio

8/10 Good

"Grand Hotel Menaggio — Stunning Views and Exceptional Breakfast, but Rooms Need Updating Grand Hotel Menaggio is a beautiful hotel with spectacular lake views and outstanding service. The breakfast was hands down the best of our entire two-week trip through Italy! The variety, quality, presentation, and attentive staff were absolutely exceptional. Unfortunately, the rooms didn’t quite live up to the rest of the experience. We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was certainly not one of the least expensive options, and expected more for the price. The beds, furniture, and decor felt outdated. Even the bathroom, although seemingly renovated, still had a tired appearance that made the room feel less fresh and inviting. Our balcony offered breathtaking views of Lake Como, which we absolutely loved. However, as beautiful as the scenery was, it didn’t fully compensate for the condition of the room. Overall, the hotel has so much going for it: stunning views, excellent hospitality, and an unforgettable breakfast. With some much-needed room updates, it could be truly exceptional. A lovely experience, but the accommodations need to better reflect the price."

Il Perlo Panorama

10/10 Excellent

"First of all, the staff at Il Perlo Panorma is exceptional. They were so accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. We arrived and had booked the Basic Room. It was ok, but since it was our 20 th anniversary, we asked about upgrading the room. The Junior Suite was available. They handle our room switch while we were away, moved our luggage and the Suite was amazing. We literally didn't want to leave the room. It had a huge balcony with stunning views of Bellagio and the lake, wonderful amenities, smart lighting to make it extra cozy, robes and slippers. It was the best upgrade. For those wanting to know about the shuttle service, they dropped off and picked up regularly and were also so accommodating with fast communication. I would highly suggest staying here. The restaurant was also delicious. Thank you for everything and making our stay so enjoyable."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Dorio?

The best area to stay in Dorio is along the lakefront, particularly near the harbour and the main piazza.

This area is the heart of Dorio, offering direct access to Lake Como's shores. You'll find a selection of local eateries, a small grocery shop, and the ferry landing, all within a short stroll. The main road, Via per Dorio, runs parallel to the lake here, providing easy connections.

Families often find this area ideal due to its proximity to the lake for swimming and water activities. There's a pleasant lakeside promenade superb for evening walks, and the ease of access to the ferry makes day trips to other lake towns straightforward for all ages.

For those seeking a more secluded and elevated experience, the hills directly above the lakefront offer stunning panoramic views and a quieter environment.

When is the best time to go to Dorio?

The best time to visit Dorio is during the late spring to early autumn months, specifically from May to September, when the weather is consistently pleasant and ideal for outdoor activities.

May and June offer comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, making it superb for exploring the lakeside villages, hiking the surrounding trails, or enjoying boat trips on Lake Como. The landscape is lush and green, and the crowds are generally lighter than in the peak summer months.

For those who enjoy warmer weather and swimming, July and August are excellent choices, with temperatures often between 25°C and 30°C. This is the peak season, so the lake will be bustling with activity, and you'll find all restaurants and attractions fully operational. It's a great time for families looking to spend time by the water.

September is another fantastic option, offering a gentle transition from summer with warm, sunny days and fewer visitors.
