We arrived pretty jaded after our overnight train journey from Bangkok. On entering the hotel reception, we immediately felt relaxed. Check in staff were excellent as were all of the staff at the hotel. The whole ambiance of the hotel was serene and calming. Furnishings throughout are traditional and in pristine condition. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a good choice of Lao and European dishes. There are lots of restaurants within a very short walk of the hotel. We would certainly recommend...

Great hotel. Super location by the Mekong. Also next door to an excellent restaurant-Ock Pop Tok. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Shuttle into town was easy. Breakfast could be better - pretty basic , but we were there in the shoulder season , so not many guests (which was wonderful in its own right). All in all we had a fantastic time in Luang Prabang and were sorry to leave. FYI there is a hotel shuttle to the train station- so make sure you ask In advance.

This place deserves all the amazing reviews - would def recommend to anyone travelling to Southern Laos. The staff are very friendly. The riverfront views are lovely as are the surroundings. The food in the restaurant was delicious and uses local produce

We stayed 3 nights at Residence Bassac which we really enjoyed. The hotel is perfectly positioned for the Champasak region and all it has to offer. The staff is very helpful with permanent smiles on their faces. Breakfast is pretty good, and we could have spent hours watching the daily life pass by in front of the hotel. Our first time in Laos and Luang Prabang. The hotel is just 15 mins from the airport and for a small fee the staff will pick you up. The hotel is just out of the main town area but a 10-15 minute walk can get you to the night market or you can use one of the many push bikes. A regular shuttle takes and picks you up to the Post Office. The hotel staff are incredibly polite like alll Laoation people and can't do enough for you. We had a wonderful time at Hillside Lodge. It is in stunning countryside (note there is a slightly bumpy 20-30 minute drive from Luang Prabang but we found this to be an added part of the adventure) with a great pool to cool down in either after a days activity or to relax around all day. Everything was great for a relaxing family holiday with young kids. Pool was the highlight for children, with shallow and deep ends well defined. Food and service was amazing, staff was professional. Perfect location to enjoy Vientiane before heading to our next destination.
