I felt the unique warmth and simple beauty of the Laotian heart in everything—from Puna’s charming smile at the airport, to Vanh’s warm welcome, the simple and warm smiles of the staff, and the owner’s flexibility during my extended stay. Above all, there was a sense of family and connection among themselves, and this heartwarming atmosphere made my stay at Thongbay Guesthouse comfortable. Thongbay Guesthouse itself is imbued with the distinctive beauty of Laos, featuring rooms and buildings that embody the country’s simple yet refined traditions, as well as a garden that beautifully showcases its vibrant natural beauty. If you visit Luang Prabang, I highly recommend staying here. It is a wonderful place to experience the beauty and warmth of Laos—not only through its surroundings, but especially through its people.

A highlight of our Laos family trip. Cozy, friendly with the benefit of a well kept garden, pool and resident cats. My son enjoyed spending time outdoors, we took advantage of the shuttle to the downtown area (night market). We will be back!

Great stay overall. The staff wee very helpful and the bungalow was clean and the breakfast was delicious. Definitely recommend getting the pancakes for the different fruit variety. It’s around 30 minute walk from the city centre in less than 10 minutes drive. There is an airport shuttle but there isn’t a train shuttle so if you take the train to Luang Prabang there are hotel shuttles right outside. Also, a heads up there are no TVs in the bungalow.

Unser voller Respekt.

The bungalow is unique and you can have a great sleep listening to birds and frogs chirping away from the busy city center. Very tranquil and relaxing vibe. The water heater was luke warm and you couldnt have a hot shower feeling cold most of the time coming out. The wifi was intermittent, losing connection quite often. The location is also further away from city center than I thought, if you don’t take the free shuttle offered by hotel be prepared to pay 100k kip for a round trip to city center. The service and breakfast was normal. But overall the amenities in the bungalow was old and dated. For the price i just didnt think the value was reflected.

Breakfast fresh every morning with great choices, served on your balcony overlooking river. All staff very friendly, went beyond expectations, from our welcome, booking tuc tucs and helping us book a private transfer when the provided transport never turned up. What a fantastic place. Highly recommended.

The service is superb. The entire staff is friendly and super helpful. For example, even though our flight arrived late and after the kitchen closed, they still brought us some food. And who can complain about having breakfast on your deck overlooking the river. The rooms are comfortable. The bathrooms are basic (e.g. only cold water in the sink) but completely functional. We highly recommend this place.

The service there was more than amazing, everyone was nice and they did everything to please us! Plus they provide free shuttle to go center town, the breakfast is great and generous, the decorations were beautiful, the pool was very clean and large enough to swim. I strongly recommand this hotel! Only downside: pillows were a little firm to my taste.
