"A nice older style traditional hotel with comfortable rooms and a good restaurant"

"Lovely little inn in very quiet location (though easy to get to Halifax). Room was great size, good facilities, bed was comfy! We had a nice view of a sheep field. Cooked breakfast was only available Friday - Sunday, but we were provided with a little cool bag of breakfast items which was unexpected bonus. We only stayed one night for an event in Halifax, but would definitely stay again and for longer."

"We were a bit disappointed with this. I’d say the pictures on the site are very flattering. We arrived in the evening to lots of building and maintenance materials outside the front and in the entrance area. Not the best start. The member of staff who met us was pleasant and helpful. The room was only ok, clean enough but not great. It was just for one stopover for an early flight and the location for that purpose is good. I’ve tried to be very fair and even in this review, but this place is not...

"Lovely old building, great staff and excellent food. Its our 2nd stay there, only because its sometimes hard to get a room and we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Ideal location for whatever your needs are. Very relaxed atmosphere."
