"An upgrade was requested for a better room. I was moved 1 floor down to a premium room as I didn't like the look of the ceiling. The view was not much different as it was only 2 doors down on the lower floor. The new room hand towels in the bathroom had dirty brown stains. When I wiped my face the towels had an awful smell. On entering the bathroom the toilet seat was up as though someone had used the bathroom. The pillow cases on the bed were not clean. They were just turned over to the other side. The housekeeper at the previous room before moving prior did a far better job with the cleaning. Staff were friendly. Lounge was great. Beautifully decorated hotel"

"Not great!! I booked a room at the Eden Hotel because I thought it was old and charming, and when I arrived, my room was in the NYX Hotel, which was not at all charming. Very confusing and disorienting to go up and down hallways and stairs through 2 different hotels, and try to figure out which entrance your cab will be at. We asked for clean towels on two occasions and even offered to carry them up ourselves from reception, but were told they would deliver them to our room for us. No towels ever showed up, and we were forced to use wet damp towels for 2 days (we had water on the floor in the bathroom from something leaking every day) so always damp towels! Hotel location was OK, but that’s about all I can say was a positive for the hotel. The hotel was under construction, which I did not know when I booked it, so maybe that is why there was so much chaos about the accommodations. Would not stay there again."

"The Pestana Amsterdam Riverside Hotel did not disappoint. I arrived early and they held my luggage and let me freshen up in the spa bathroom. My room ended up being ready at 130pm which was a nice surprise. The food and drinks at the hotel restaurant, for breakfast and dinner, was delicious. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the espresso machine. I had the Superior Terrace room and I loved the terrace. I sat outside and enjoyed the bird songs. It was unusually hot the length of my stay and the AC was not strong enough. The room being on the top floor with the balcony glass doors created an comfortably hot environment by late afternoon through the evening. I rented a bike one day for €20 and ride around all day. That evening I was getting tight from riding around and was able to book a massage within the hour. The massage was fantastic perfect blend of deep tissue and swedish techniques. I didn't use the sauna or pool there was a couple with a happy little toddler that didn't jive with the relaxing state I was in. There is a bus ~4 min walk, a coffeeshop ~2 min, late night food spots and a bar open til 4A all within walking distance. I enjoyed being further away from Jordaan or de wallen. It alllowed me to see more of the city. I would definitely recommend."
