The room was overall good order and clean. 5 Star is reserved for properties that go above and beyond with details and exceed expectations. This property was great with regards to cleanliness, but not 5 star. Minor details, small spots here and there and other fine details that can be overlooked but keeps it from a 5 star rating

Location is everything and the Penguin provides exactly that. You are just steps away from the beach, right at Lummus Park and Ocean Drive, but without the noise of all the restaurants on Ocean Drive. The staff is very nice. The rooms, especially the bathrooms are small. Most rooms will not have a view. However, the rooms are clean and provide everything you need to rest up at night before going back outside to enjoy everything South Beach Miami has to offer. The AC units are a bit older and noisy, something that could be improved on, as well as the shelf right above the sink, which should be moved to the other side. Additional areas to hang wet clothes or towels would be nice too. The bedding was simple but clean. A headboard would have been nice and could spruce up the room instantly. The pool area provides a nice view of downtown Miami. It’s not big but if you want a pool, they got one. The Penguin is nothing fancy but was exactly what we needed during our stay, affordable, right at the beach, watching sunrises every morning with only a few steps to the beach and in walking distance to all the hot spots. We were happy with our decision to stay at the Penguin.

I recently stayed at 1 Hotel South Beach and it completely exceeded expectations. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is different—in the best way possible. Everything feels intentional and elevated—from the calming neutral color palette to the high-end finishes and attention to detail. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the in-room touches like robes, slippers, and eco-friendly amenities made it feel like a true luxury escape rather than just a hotel stay. The service matched the environment—professional, attentive, and never overbearing. Every interaction felt smooth and genuine, which is rare. The pool and beach setup are easily some of the best in South Beach. Plenty of space, great energy, and a perfect balance between relaxing and lively. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind during the day and still feel like you’re part of something upscale and social. What really sets this hotel apart is the vibe. It’s luxury without being flashy. Everything feels curated, modern, and intentional. If you’re looking for a place that feels high-end but still comfortable and grounded, this is it. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Miami, and this one stands out. I’d come back without hesitation.
