"The inn is lovely, perfect location, great staff, good food, free parking on the road, wonderfully comfy bed and great bathroom… but beware of room 7 with a sea view.. on the second floor up steep steps but the reason for the 3 star rating is that you will constantly hear the water pump every time anyone in the hotel uses a drop of water. ALL NIGHT LONG! Very hard to sleep or stay asleep when is constantly starting up close by the bed. Were exhausted the next day, so glad we only stayed one night. The water pressure on the second floor is fab…but the noise from the pump really is annoying. The hotel only has an emergency contact number and no overnight staff so by 11pm when you realise that the pump is going to be jolting you awake regularly there is no one that can help."

"Staff were great. We stayed in the Lapwings and it was gorgeous. Everything we needed. Pool was a good temp and we picked the right rime when it was quiet. Jacuzzi was fab. Thoroughly enjoyed our atay and would definitely stay again. The only thing i would say is brighter lights are needed at the entrance please as it is easy to miss."

"Pet-friendly BUT you need to know that the guesthouse is just a small part of a large caravan and camping site. There’s also a field of horses. Guesthouse clients with dogs are only allowed in rooms accessible from the outside; we weren’t allowed inside the building. So my room opened directly onto the access road, with all the mud and noise that comes from all the traffic, walkers, and horses that passed in front of the door and small window. The staff can’t be criticised. There seemed to be only 2 that I saw, and they were very helpful. But the guesthouse clients were supposed to be self-checkin and out, except I was NOT notified of my room number or that my name would be on a big notice on the door which I drove past. My room was clean on arrival but impossible to keep that way because of the mud, but I also had a small ant infestation, so couldn’t keep bags on the floor, but there was only the bed and a dining chair to put them on. I didn’t report the ant problem to the staff, because there was nowhere else for me to be moved, and I didn’t want the room treated whilst my stuff was in it. Description stated there was a terrace, but my room certainly didn’t have one. I assume that was where the door into the house was, because there was a small table and chairs outside the main door. So I expect other reviews will depend on where they were situated. My room was a single, allowing dogs. "

"The hotel is in a perfect location for exploring Devil's Bridge and the surrounding area. We visited the Elan Valley dams and reservoirs, the Silver Mountain and Aberystwyth. The Hotel looks stunning from the outside and inside. A lot of care has gone into every detail of the hotel. Our room was on the top floor. It was very cool and quirky, just a little bit musty smelling. (We couldn't open the windows without a load of bugs flying in so had to keep them closed unfortunately.) The bathroom looked cool but there was nowhere to put anything! Our arrival wasn't the best. We had travelled a fair distance and arrived at 7, when staff were busy with dinner. We rang the bell a few times, we were ignored by staff rushing around with dinner and drinks orders. I asked someone at the bar for help, who said they would ask someone to come and see to us. We kept waiting and eventually I managed to stop someone who just gave us the key card and told us our room was on the top floor. But then, the complete opposite service occurred on our second and third nights when one particular member of staff was really kind, friendly and helpful when we were looking to get a table for dinner. I forgot to get her name but she was amazing and really made our stay. "

"Clean room. Frirndly staff. Located in a pretty village with lots of shops, restaurants and cafes. Close to Hafren Forest, Elan Valley."

"The bathroom was quite small and felt cramped, which made it uncomfortable to use. The breakfast offering was also disappointing, with very limited variety. On top of that, there were noticeable plumbing noises from other rooms, especially when toilets were flushed, which affected the overall comfort of the stay."

"What a gem of a property. Set in a stunning location. Traditional cottage, spotlessly clean with modern touches to add to your comfort. We did cook the majority of the time but visited George III pub one evening which we would definitely recommend.There are lots of birds around, which provided lots of opportunity for my husband to indulge in his photography. We enjoyed a lovely day at the Vale of Rheidol Railway at Aberystwyth and also 2 or 3 of the lovely walks in the area.Andrea is an excellent host, providing so much information and has thought of everything to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible at Riverside Cottage. We will definitely be returning."
