Penhelig Arms
Nice hotel. Stayed in small dog friendly double room on second floor which had a view over the sea. Although we were on the main road. It was very quiet in the evening & overnight so we slept quite well. Unfortunately, we found that we couldn't close the blind as the mechanism seemed to be stuck. ...

Riverside Cottage, Abergwynant (sleeps up to 3) - don't forget your binoculars!

We did cook the majority of the time but visited George III pub one evening which we would definitely recommend. There are lots of birds around, which provided lots ...

The Tilman
The Tilman was not a bad place to stay, it was clean; staff friendly; breakfast was okay but limited if you only like cereals. Affording magnificent views of the Snowdonia National Park, the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) has for nearly half a century now occupied a seven-acre site in a former slate quarry close to Machynlleth. Easily reached by car or bus, and naturally offering free charging for electric vehicles, a visit here may be among the most rewarding and inspiring you could hope to take in Wales. Note also that the name is a little misleading now, as the centre has switched from focusing purely on alternative technologies to all forms of sustainable living.
