We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in this beautiful boutique hotel. We booked the room overlooking the Cathedral which was stunning. The room was really large and immaculately designed. The gentleman who checked us in was so friendly and helpful. The walk was no more than 10 minutes to the centre. We were so impressed with this hotel and Durham we would definitely come back.

First off, Sue (the owner) is just the best! I phoned in advance and asked a couple of favours of her, to put a couple of gifts in the room to surprise my girlfriend. Not only did she do it but she did it for less than budget! (If you do ask something of her like this, it's only fair to reward the wonderful lady with a gift of her own. OK?! Haha!) The apartment was exceptionally clean, Close to the shops , parking a little tight with a larger car , had a lovely stay

We had a great welcome after walking all day on the Pennine Way. The room was comfortable, clean and met our every need. The evening meal was delicious and ample. We would definitely recommend High Force Hotel.

What a lovely welcoming hotel in the centre of the village. Our dog had his own special treat on arrival of Posh dog wine. This made us all smile. I had let them know it was are anniversary and we also had a lovely surprise in our room. But oh my goodness the food it phenomenal from breakfast to lunch and then dinner WoW! This place is a HUGE hidden gem! From start to finish, the service, staff, spa, value for money, everything was fantastic! We have stayed in many many hotels in the UK and this hotel has to be our favourite. The secret garden spa for an extra £25pp is worth every penny! We stayed in Tiplady 4 and it was perfect sitting outside as it was south facing so ordered a bottle of wine and nibbles before going to Nu Sana for an evening meal. Decor, soft furnishings clean polite and friendly

What a find. Super rural location, friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were spotless with loads of little special extras. The breakfast and the bistro style food was superb. We had a brilliant stay here and we would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends.

Great location for town, has its own small car park, Mark, the owner, friendly and welcoming, Veggie breakfast lovely, clran room, clean shower, comfy bed. Would stay again if I'm in the area 😀

Good food and comfortable room

Lovely junior garden room with a very nice view! Very cosy and dog friendly! Super food served and the staff especially Jane & Lauren were so lovely and gave super service! Would highly recommend staying or dining here!

Our family get together weekend at The Old Oak Tree was supreme! Absolutely faultless from arriving, check-in, accommodation, welcome, rear patio/beer garden, drinks service, dinner food and service. Breakfast was fantastic, the whole team was attentive, polite and helpful from beginning to end - a totally positive experience. The Old Oak Tree is fabulous in all departments!!

Lovely staff who were helpful and courteous. Beautiful views and comfortable bedrooms. Clean, nicely decorated with all you need and plenty of space. We had room 5. The food was very good and the choice excellent. Would highly recommend and would certainly return.
