"I loved the hotel, I was amazed how a hotel of that size can keep such high standards and yet not be too expensive that it is out of everybody’s reach."

"The room we stayed in was clean but in need of updating. The shower water pressure was about the equivalent of a water tap running. Staff was kind and helpful. The hotel itself is currently undergoing updating and construction started early, around 7am."

"The outside of the hotel needs a lot of attention but don’t be put off by this as inside they’ve been doing a refurbishment and view I was in it had a new Carpet and everything was in good order"

"It’s a lovely hotel. Great setting. Staff are good. The only disappointment is that if you are on bed and breakfast basis you have to pay £25 per person daily to use the pool. This extra charge for the spa is understandable but the pool is surely part of the general facilities of the hotel."

"Always a wonderful stay here in this gorgeous Georgian Hotel. Very happy to accept our mini dachshund who was able to sit with us at breakfast. Staff were friendly and hospitable as per usual. Always there for anything but not unobtrusive. My wife had a anti aging facial in the spa and felt incredibly relaxed afterwards. The Superior room was spacious and perfect for our 3 night stay. A special mention for the shower which was possibly the best I have had in the UK. Maybe its the waters in Matlock Bath. They do say they are rejuvenating."

"Breakfast was good, our room, the Jane Austen was large and superbly done up. The bathroom was the best I’ve encountered in the UK. The Sunday Roast was delectable."

"Ok yes it does need a refresh, but the rooms are clean, the linen was clean, and it cheap. What else do you want for the very low price. If you want 5 star pay for it."
