We spent four nights at the Royal Wells Hotel at the end of a 10 day holiday in Kent.
The hotel was perfect, excellent service from every staff member we met, delicious food with the best breakfast choice of any hotel we've stayed in. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay here again if we visit the area in the future.

comfortable, relaxing hotel. Robes and slippers in the room, which is great if you want to wander down to the spa, and/or chill out. The breakfast was lovely, a good selection and good quality. All staff from the reception, spa and breakfast were professional, friendly and helpful. The grounds are very well kept with nice seating areas to relax and enjoy the views. The spa is small, however they are up grading this and im sure it will be amazing once completed.

We arrived and we're greater by the most wonderful Vicky, with whom we hit it off straight away as she up graded us to a suite. It's little things like this which go along way, as the suite was the most opulent, most spacious room I have ever stayed in, it's sweeping viwes to date a lawn Ed tree-lined avenue showing up the splendour of the settings in which this stunning period hotels lies. We were directed to the bar and sampled their food menu. We sat outside opposite the orangery restaurant....

I chose to stay here for two nights while I was visiting Glyndebourne. Carol and Ceri were so friendly and welcoming. They took such good care of me and made sure that I wanted for nothing. The room I was given was large and extremely comfortable with a private bathroom that overlooked the beautiful
garden. Breakfast was always delicious and served in the conservatory. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

I chose this hotel as its connected to the terminal which makes an early check-in very quick and easy. The hotel has been renovated since i last stayed and is much nice, comfortable, specious room and a very nice bathroom. The service in the bars and restaurant was excellent and good food and drink at reasonable prices. Excellent relaxing stay.

The best area to stay in Crowborough is generally around the town centre, particularly near Crowborough Cross and the High Street.
This central area offers the most convenience for visitors, with a selection of shops, eateries, and local amenities clustered around the main crossroads. You'll find everything you need within walking distance, making it a practical base for exploring the town and surrounding countryside.
Couples looking for a relaxing escape will appreciate staying near the town centre. It provides easy access to the local cafes and pubs for a pleasant evening out, and many accommodations are well-placed for walks to nearby open spaces like Goldsmiths Recreation Ground or a short drive to the Ashdown Forest for scenic strolls.
For families, staying centrally is also a good option due to the proximity of local parks and the convenience of having shops and restaurants close at hand.
When is the best time to go to Crowborough?
The best time to go to Crowborough is during the late spring and summer months, from May to September, when the weather is generally mild and pleasant.
During this period, the days are longer and there's less chance of rain, making it ideal for exploring the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is superb for couples or families who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, or visiting local attractions such as Ashdown Forest or Groombridge Place. You'll find that many local events and open gardens also take place during these months.
For those who prefer a quieter visit with fewer crowds, late spring (May and early June) or early autumn (September) can be particularly appealing. The countryside is still beautiful, and you'll often find good value on accommodation.
