"Me and my partner booked a two night stay for a special birthday, we decided to book what we thought to be a posh hotel and pay a little bit more unfortunately there was nothing posh about it just the prices. We arrived and the front of house staff all seemed lovely. We were given the keys to our room and on entering it was the most bleak depressing grey room I’d ever stayed in it was shabby nothing matched and it was in no state to be let out especially not at near enough £400 for 2 nights the window had a massive gap in it and was hanging out which we did complain about because it was a danger and I thought it was going to fall out it was noisy and cold with the wind blowing in the first night they had put filler in it by the second night. The tea tray had 2 teabags on it so one each you would expect a decent tea tray in the Hilton. Hardly any channels worked on the tv and to be honest the less time spent in that room the better. We had booked breakfast and evening meal the evening meal on the first night was absolutely rubbish I ordered a pasta dish it just looked like a plain bowl of pasta with 2 prawns chucked in then they added charges at end for a meal we had already paid for so felt pressured to pay it even though we didn’t even use the £35 allowance they also added onto a bottle of £4.50 water the woman at dinner was pushy and rude we didn’t return the second night. The only decent thing was the breakfast. But from our experience rooms and building need overhauling. "

"Watch out for hidden charges at check-in. £50 taken from my bank immediately on top of the room charge. If I wanted to purchase anything extra, I would have paid at the time of purchasing. Now having to wait for a refund. This was not transparent enough in the T&Cs even within the confirmation email. Lifts old and creaky despite £3m upgrade, shower tiles grubby, mini bar only stocked water and wasn’t clear if this was complimentary, broken usb port by the bedside and heating system didn’t work as only blowing out cold air (no extra blankets in the room). Not enough towels for two women to dry their hair and body without using the hand towel too. £5 service charge for room service unless you were sensible and read all the in-room gubbins and saw the discount code - just don’t charge it in the first place! Prices were also out of date on the room service menu in the room. Didn’t think much of the cheese and biscuits either as two of the cheeses lacked flavour and we got a few apple slices rather than the whole apple sliced for £13! I know this is a 4* hotel but it’s the little things that matter and these could be improved. Breakfast served until 10am but by 9:30, the hot buffet was lacking and had to be refilled multiple times: eggs congealed and some items luke warm. "

"To be the fair this property is undergoing major renovations- and my experience takes this into account as well as the cheap price tag My arrival was quite late but I was greeted and checked in as one would expect. I was shown to my room and became quickly aware that it was very basic and smelled of stale cigarette smoke with tell tale burns in the carpet and fa butt hiding in the kettle.. I was too tired to make a fuss and battled through the night reasonable well until woken by the building site next door, then the window cleaners came and I hit the shower which was hot for 2 mins and then solid cold whatever I did. I dumped my key and ran for the potholed drive . Lesson learned."
