From the airport buses, taxis and hotel shuttles will take you into San Juan. The capital has a network of buses and its own metro system.

Outside the city public transport is less in evidence, although minibuses called ‘publicos’ connect towns and villages. There are some domestic air routes to islands off the coast, which are also connected by ferry.
