The Aberdare Park National Road Races is a motorcycling event that takes place over two days in July in Aberdare Park. Races are held on the Victorian park’s 0.9 mile circuit, which is the only track in Wales that takes a left course and is said to be one of the best and hardest in the country.
Getting to Aberdare After Your Flight
The closest rail station to Cardiff Airport is Rhoose Cardiff International Airport, and a regular shuttle bus service runs between the airport terminal and the station, the journey taking around 10 minutes. You can catch a direct train to Aberdare from the station, and your journey should take just over an hour and a half.
You can also take a T9 bus from the airport to Cardiff Central bus station, from where you can catch a T4 or X4 to Pontypridd and then a 60 or 60A the rest of the way to Aberdare. The journey should take a little over two hours.
The easiest way to get from Cardiff Airport to Aberdare is by car, which should take you around 45 minutes. Take the A4226 and A4050 heading north from the airport, and then the A4232 until it meets the M4. Briefly join the M4 heading east, then exit at junction 32 onto the A470. At Abercynon join the A4509, which will take you to Aberdare.
You might like to arrange a car rental through Expedia in advance, so that you can pick up the car from the airport as soon as possible after your flight touches down, and be in Aberdare before you know it.
