"Seven of us age range 6-75 stayed at Gardners Cottage during New Year week. On arrival welcomed by the warmth of the property in the afternoon of the last day of the year. And welcomed even more by the Christmas tree beautifully lit in the dining room.Other lovely festive decorations( including mistletoe ) were still there in the hallway and lounge.The lounge very comfortable but may have benefitted by another light in the winter afternoon and evenings. "Oat Barn has everything you could wish for a delightful stay. It is beautifully designed and decorated. The kitchen is spacious and has everything you need. Very clean and high quality. Great outdoor space overlooking fields and the church. Shot walk to an excellent traditional country pub. Short drive to plenty of pretty villages."

"The front of the house was not welcoming with a lot of dirty cobwebs around the window and door.The front door opened into the main living room which is the selling point of the property, it does have a wow factor with ingle nook fireplace and oak beamed walls but the sofas are old and uncomfortable and the large rug is very faded and rucks up and becomes a tripping hazard.The kitchen and bathroom are very dated (80s) and needing a complete refurbishment. "Fabulous property, like a real-life Weasley Burrow, hundreds of years old and naturally higgledy-piggledy as a result but very well and sympathetically updated. 2 families with teens/tweens all comfortably accommodated with ample space. Very plush, warm and clean. Although close to Saffron Walden and Stansted, you wouldn't know it: it was silent at night, and you truly felt secluded and cossetted in the 1800s.
