The first thing that comes to your mind when you enter your room is ...WOW!! The room had its own lounge and kitchen, very spacious. The bedroom was clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable (especially after a long flight!).
The air conditioning kept the temperature in check. There is definitely a european elegance about the room (which they state in the welcoming letter). Bathroom and shower were excellent, and there is plenty of cupboard space should you require it. The area is quiet around there, with a many local shops (burrito brothers is only around the corner)
Very welcoming staff, and polite.
The continental breakfast is served from 630am every morning, and there was an excellent selection of cereals, bagels, croissants, eggs etc. Advice is get there early, as became very crowded around 9ish, but there is more seating nearby. Offer washington post newspaper as well.
Wifi was very good, will help keep your data charges down on your trip.
Location wise, the hotel is ideal. A short walk gets you to the library of congress and capitol hill building. The national mall and its smithsonian museums are around 10 minutes away, but if you prefer, capitol hill south metrorail is only a 5 minute walk (smithsonian for museums, mcpherson square for white house). Union station is easily accessible if you wish to venture outside washington. From dulles airport it's around 35 minutes.
Overall, a highly recommended hotel in the heart of capitol hill!!
This hotel was very nice. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Only two blocks from the Washington monument. They have taxi service right outside the door if you need it . The rooms was very clean. You do have to valet park your car. The only thing is the pool is small. Had a great time and would stay they again.
When we booked this hotel we were under the impression that we were close to it all. When we arrived, the hotel appeared to be in the middle of nowhere. However, you are only two blocks away from the Metro. You are about 10-30 minutes away from anything you would like to see and do in D.C. Close to the Metro station there are lots of food options. There is also a great place called Union Market about 6 minutes by bus or a 12 minute walk. It's filled with lots of food options and a wonderful restaurant (Bidwell) with a great staff.
The hotel is on a main street. So, if you stay here you want to request a room at the back of the hotel. The front of the hotel is very noisy. The free breakfast was not very appealing. There are breakfast options one to two blocks away ... a Dunkin Dounts, a great coffee and tea shop called Tynan (great breakfast sandwiches and waffles) along with a supermarket.
The pool is cute. It only goes up to 4 feet and was perfect for a hot day
The hotel staff was friendly despite the dysfunction. The hotel seemed understaffed and disorganized. We had to make several request for housekeeping to clean our room and/or to provide extra washcloths. The in-house menu states that everything is made to order but this does not mean to your liken. No medium rare burgers here. I got sick from their made to order chicken pizza.

We stayed at The George on a quick trip to Washington, DC. I could not be more impressed with this place!
The location was fantastic, the staff amazing, rooms were clean, bed was super comfortable and they had the best shower! Water pressure was awesome, not like most hotels.
Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
The bakery next door has good breakfasts which was a bonus.
The French restaurant in the hotel was meh...really expensive, the food wasn't that great and our waiter was a bit snotty. Personally I would it bother eating there and just walk the few blocks to where all the good eats are.
Lawmakers handle the nation’s business at the US Capitol, where Freedom peers across the land atop her perch on the rotunda. Many members of Congress live in the brick row houses near the Capitol complex. Across the street, the Supreme Court—the third branch of government—interprets the law. Nearby, the restored Union Station is a transit terminal and dining hotspot.
