Second time at the Morrison Clark and must say that the renovations completed since our last visit in 2013 have truly turned it into a top notch hotel. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Brunch and drinks at the restaurant/bar were great. The room was beautifully appointed, spacious, and cannot be beat considering the reasonable cost.
I was happy to find a hotel with some real character in a city increasingly overrun with modern, cookie-cutter buildings. While the staff wasn't super helpful, they were pleasant enough, and the building is well-maintained. I ate in the restaurant because I find so many DC restaurants in the center have the same, packaged quality, dining being secondary to image. While the hotel restaurant was charming, the food--classic, simple fare--was good as well. A shame, in fact, it wasn't more crowded.
When we arrived we quickly realised that the hotels biggest asset was the staff, they were all brilliant, .helpful, friendly and just couldn't do enough to help you.
The hotel itself is an older style inside but is kept clean and tidy by the cleaning staff and the food provided was of a high standard and well priced.
No hotel can be perfectly placed in D.C. since there is so much to see and do but the Holiday Inn is
certainly well placed for the White House and Washington Monument.
WELL DONE THE HOLIDAY INN-CENTRAL.
Pocket Guide: Washington Downtown Washington D.C. Hotels
Downtown DC is awash with culture. The Smithsonian Institution museum complex flanks the National Mall. The Washington Monument bisects the Mall, just south of the White House. Federal agency headquarters house bureaucrats of varying stripes. Moneyed and powerful lobbyists help create (and quash) laws from K Street. Chinatown and the Washington Convention Center lie east of downtown.
