Hallmark Hotel in Bar Hill, Cambridge

Posted 08-Feb-2016
Pros: For me it was convenient for a course I was doing in Madingley and close to a huge Tesco! It was a good price and served a purpose.
Cons: They could improve the quality of the beds and bedlinens.
Location: Cambridge is close by - a 15 minute drive into the centre. Free car park at hotel and Tesco very close. Pretty surrounding area to visit.
This hotel is convenient if you have a car but not if you do not. It is ok but the beds are not great and the pillows are awful. It is not a bad price and the breakfast is good. It also has a very good gym and nice pool. Overall I would say that this hotel is perfectly fine it is just that the bedrooms are ok but not of a 4 star standard. Also on weekends there is always noisy groups who seem to come back to their bedrooms in the early hours which is rather annoying. The staff are friendly though. It takes about 15 minutes to drive into Cambridge so long as there is no traffic.

Great staff

We stayed for 2 nights. Excellent staff. Good gym and pool. Restaurant food quality was very good but the setting lacked ambience. Overall good stay and very competitive relative to Holiday Inn.

Nice hotel, excellent staff who I cannot fault.

Easy check in with the most helpful staff (sorry didn't catch their names). The lovely lady on check in informed me I had booked breakfast too which was an unexpected bonus! The man was happy to help me sort out how to work the tv and both were really friendly and made me feel welcome and like nothing was too much trouble. Cannot praise them enough! The airy twin room was lovely and comfortable. The only thing I was a little disappointed with was the restaurant prices which was a little steep for me...however the food was delicious and wait staff were attentive and helpful.

Spent 2 nights here whilst attending work related conference. On arrival there was confusion about my booking with receptionist first saying had no record of my booking and then saying someone had already checked in to my room!! Was quickly sorted out and got upgrade to complementary breakfast for the trouble but it didn't inspire me with much confidence about this hotel. Room was ok, had all basic requirements such as tea and coffee, iron, etc, comfy bed, but room in need of updating, poor quality TV poor reception, very small bathroom. Breakfast ok, but slow service for tea and coffee, I had to eventually ask a passing waitress. Nothing to do in the evenings here as hotel too far away from town and no where local to eat or drink. Overall was adequate for business trip but I certainly wouldn't attend for leisure and definitely wouldn't class's it as a 4 star hotel

My 7 year old son and I had a great stay in this hotel which boasts a pool. All staff were polite and friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. Would use again.

Cambridge Visit

Room was large and comfortable, The bathroom was small and in need of refurbishment. Breakfast was good but the evening meal menu was rather limited and the portions quite small. Large comfortable bar area. Easy access to the hotel from major road network. Would use this hotel again.

Staff were very helpful. The facilities were really three star standard with additional extras which have probably pushed up the ratings. My shower hardly work and was just warm enough and similarly the bath. The restaurant was ok but there was no real bar area.

Another enjoyable stay at The Hallmark

I enjoyed my stay. My husband and I brought my older sister of 73 and she thoroughly enjoyed her stay. We all had very good evening meals. I enjoyed the pool, my husband was pleased with the gym. We would definitely come again.

Good place on the outskirts of Cambridge

Posted 03-Oct-2015
Pros: Comfortable room, good breakfast, good wi-fi
Cons: Service in the bar can be improved. While menus were on the tables - one had to go to the bar to order. Frankly, staff were slow and not attentive.
Location: Outskirts of Cambridge - on site golf, and all of Cambridge.
Overall, a very good place to stay in the Cambridge area. Room was comfortable, beakfast was excellent, good (free) wi-fi signal, location was good although one does need a vehicle. When we went into Cambridge, we thought the hire car was reasonable - 13GBP. Staff was, for the most part, friendly and helpful. There were many activities available - a golf course and fitness center/pool. However, Because of our schedule, we did not have the time to use those facilities. Would likely use again.
