"Good breakfast, great location "

"Overall stay was fab, staff were amazing and the place is very welcoming. We had a spa day and overnight stay which was amazing the only thing I will say is the spa amenities could do with a revamp like the steam room and sauna area"

"The spa was wonderful. The rooms are clean and the staff is very kind. I believe that they want to ensure you are comfortable. But, they are working with a property in need of maintenance. Our air conditioner worked the first night, but the next day we couldn't get the temperature below 24c/75f. After two attempts to fix it, they moved us to another room, where we discovered another guests gift wine, cupcake and greeting. Not a tragedy, but not assuring either. We got our new room pleasantly cool, though the thermostat never moved from 22c/72f. And it was definitely cooler than that. 2 out of 2 room temperature controls malfunctioning. A five star hotel to me, will get the details right. I didn't leave The Gainsborough with that impression, and it certainly wasn't the relaxing few days I had hoped for."

"I originally wanted to book from the 14th to the 18th but the system wouldn’t allow me to do that so I ended up booking one night and then after a couple of false starts I managed to book the other 3 nights. The first night I had a room with a shower which was very nice (lovely in fact). However the wi fi was terrible downstairs but works a lot better upstairs as I had to change rooms because of not being able to book all 4 nights at the same time. Really good otherwise."

"Fantastic staff gave a warm welcome and great service throughout our stay. Parking was very convenient and secure although was a tight space. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice."

"Overall our stay was pleasant. The room and hotel itself is beautiful. Our issue came with the food. We wanted some food at about 9:15pm sent to our room and all that was available were tiny sandwiches which were not substantial. I have stayed at many 5 star hotels that offer far greater choice and variety with room service, especially when it’s at a relatively normal hour. We had high hopes for the breakfast but unfortunately was underwhelming for a whopping £30 per person I was expecting a lot more choice. The flavours and offerings for a 5 star hotel were sub par. The eggs benedict felt like it was made at a 2 star hotel. I would say that also waiting about 20 mins for each dish was far too long. It looks like the hotel is lacking a proper breakfast buffet reminiscent of what you would expect at a luxury hotel. It’s safe to say although the hotel is beautiful I will not be staying again although the spa and massages we had were lovely."

"Property a little tired but very clean and staff are very nice. Rooms functional we were upgraded to a beautiful view, only complaint the hearing was in a timer and the room was very cold. They gave us an electric heater which took the chill off. "

"Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Great location of Bath city centre, just a short walk. We had no problems parking onsite."
