"Location was good, amenities very good, the offsite room was slightly small for our two suitcases. When they say that parking is limited they are not wrong but it is also quite difficult to get into with a slightly bigger cast - especially for Australians already struggling with the parking in the UK 🙂. However we were lucky to find parking near the offsite room. Hotel itself is lovely and the dinner and breakfast very good. Staff were excellent."

"Appleby Castle is a special destination, steeped in history that you can experience first hand. Staff care deeply about the castle and we thoroughly enjoyed the piano playing during the meal and the history talk after. Having read some of the other reviews, we can’t say we experienced any of the negatives and thought Peter, Sally (and chef!) did a great job it being just them running the castle."

"The staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. The food was very good. The hotel is very comfortable, well furnished and very quiet being a little remote. No outside noise and very little noise inside the hotel even with coach parties staying over. Looking forward to my next visit."

"This was a one night stop in the twin room. It was small but had recently been redecorated so everything was new. The only downside was the toilet wasn’t main flush but had a noisy macerator which went off unexpectently during the night The owner was lovely and very accommodating . We ate in the bar and food was decent. Pie peas and a pint for £20"

"Parking was easy being right outside the property. A lovely lady called us to check our arrival time as we had booked an evening meal and the last order time was 8pm and she didn't want us to miss out. We had a lovely evening meal, with it being their weekly Pie night it really hit the spot after a long journey! Our room was very spacious and extremely comfortable too. There were lots breakfast options and what we both had was delicious. We will definitely return as this place is a real gem. And being centrally located for visiting family, the Yorkshire dales and the Lake District the location is perfect."
