"a modern hotel with great location"
The stay was in a package with flight tickets and we were a little bit reluctant about the result but the moment we entered the hotel a very efficient service greeted us. They provided our vouchers for the museum and gave us enough information about the area. The room was very clean and modern, just we needed. The breakfast was very well served and it was delicious. Although there is no parking belongs to the hotel there is a public parking space right in front of the hotel very convenient. The location of the hotel is excellent, the famous Guggenheim Museum is right across the street and you can walk to the old city very comfortably in 20 minutes.

"One night in Bilbao"
We only stayed in Bilbao for one night, but it was a lovely one. This hotel was older, but still delightful. Lovely chandelier in the foyer, with marble and wood. The room was spacious enough, clean and bright. Coffee machine in the room, and clean bathroom. Staff at check-in were friendly and spoke very good English which was helpful as my brain kept trying to bring in high school German, rather than the Spanish phrases I'd learnt for the trip!

Pocket Guide: Boutique Hotels in Bilbao

Bilbao boutique hotels are the perfect choice for visitors who want to soak up the art and design culture that spreads through the city. If you’re looking for a personal touch, quirky pops of colour and eye-catching details, use Expedia’s search tool to track down the Bilbao boutique hotel that’s perfect for you – then settle in for a stylish stay in this buzzing Basque city.

What to Expect from a Bilbao Boutique Hotel

Since the Guggenheim Museum opened in 1997, Bilbao has undergone a radical change, shifting from an industrialised port city to one of the Europe’s contemporary art hotspots. Immerse yourself in those designer details when you book a boutique hotel in Bilbao: from mood lighting and hip furnishings to dramatic colour schemes and luxurious bathrooms, there’s plenty to suit even the pickiest guest. And with extras ranging from memory foam beds and high thread count sheets to iPod docking stations, you can look forward to plenty of creature comforts too.

Art and Design Attractions in Bilbao

Number one on your list has to be the Guggenheim Museum. You’ll find it down on the left bank of the Nervión River which flows through the heart of the city. The building itself is stunning; designed by Frank Gehry, its glass titanium and limestone curves catch the light and shimmer in the sun. It’s home to permanent and visiting works of contemporary art from Spanish, Basque and international names. Afterwards, wander to the nearby Indautxu neighbourhood where you’ll find the super-cool Philippe Starck-designed Azkuna Zentroa. It’s a cultural centre with a cinema, and buzzing event space, and a funky indoor swimming pool with a transparent bottom.

Discover the Best of Bilbao’s Food Scene

Bilbao is famous for its food scene, where modern techniques rub shoulders with traditional Basque produce and recipes. Choose from fine dining Michelin-starred restaurants or tiny hole-in-the-wall pintxos (tapas) joints. Some of the best pintxos places are clustered in the Casco Viejo, so head there for an evening of gourmet bar-hopping.

Finally, head back to your boutique Bilbao hotel for a refreshing night’s sleep. There’s another day of art, design and fabulous food ahead...
