"For the price of a hostel, this hotel was a comfortable and convenient choice. Breakfast included, the rooms were clean and the bed comfortable. Being and older building the noise from within the hotel can be quite loud but ear plugs will fix that. The toilet may talk to you during the night due to the older plumbing system. (sounds only)"

"Where can I begin… This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The service was non-existing, no one in the staff was service minded. Me and my friend stayed there for work purposes and ended up leaving early just because of their poor treatment. "The area is going through a big development. Everywhere looks like a building site. For the price the hotel was fine. Staff didn't have much information for us, so we found out ourselves. Think there are better hotels for similar prices in the area."

"I booked for this hotel and tried to cancel it through Expedia. Expedia tried to call the hotel but no one spoke English. We attempted to do this several times. They were unable to get an approval, so i could not get a refund. It takes like 2 hours to get to the airport from here. What a joke! Don't even bother booking here."

"On the Golden Halong website, it states the hotel has a spa, gym, tour desk, room service and bar. It has none of these. The staff speak minimal english, making it difficult to ask for advice on local attractions, restaurants or shopping. The location is terrible, no where near the marina that all the tour boats operate out of. Breakfast is geared towards Chinese and if you want hot food you need to get there at 0630 hours when it opens, however, you then need to contend with all the tour...

"Friendly at first at the desk after that no good mornings or even a hello and the rooms are clean but leaking water from the shower door wouldn’t close to the jacuzzi leaking water all over the floor plus it didn’t work and the refrigerator didn’t work and we had our clothes washed and had a very friendly person help us with questions on our clothes getting washed and got them done in a timely manner I appreciated her very much but I would say fix your things in the rooms before giving them to customers "
