Hurricane Irma

Posted 10-Sep-2017
The hotel: Right on the beach, rooms (many, but not all) recently refurbished to a high standard. Many food outlets to meet the varying needs of its guests, and a sizeable pool (and a quieter pool if you prefer). Activities and tours available. Thoroughly recommend it. Irma: During the final days of our stay (Sept 2017), Irma came to visit. Pineapple Beach was evacuated, and all guests, with all their belongings, were moved a very short distance to the Verandah resort, which is managed by the same group. Verandah was closed due maintenance, but re-opened at short notice to take these guests. Once Irma had passed, this did give me the time to consider the merits of both hotels, and with pina colada in hand, I have to say that the Pineapple Beach had a better beach, better restaurants, better views, and better rooms and was tidily compact whereas Verandah sprawled across a huge area, therefore relying on an internal "bus" (an electric buggy) to get around: The staff & management: Irma was exceptional, even for those that have experienced hurricanes before. My most lasting memory will not be any of the above. The measure of any company is how it reacts to adversity, and their concern for the safety and welfare of their staff and customers. This was exemplary, perhaps even too much so. They provided a service (meals / entertainment etc) which in my opinion exceeded the needs and requirements of the guests. I earnestly congratulate and thank them.

Special in every way

Posted 29-Aug-2017
Pros: This is Adults Only, lovely rooms, a beach setting to die for and a resort that makes you feel you have reached paradise.
Cons: No
My wife and I stayed at Pineapple Beach Club in August, it is the kind of place that seems to different form the normal all-inclusive hotel, special in some way from the moment you arrive, the reception is very colonial, with dark furniture and big smiles from the staff, a very welcomed Rum Punch awaited us with cold towels, a couple of forms to fill in and we were taken away by a very interesting bell man called Tristan, super chap with great knowledge of the resort. Our room was a garden view, which was simple by design, with amazing view of the bay, and the beach was only 25 steps away, which is called Long Bay. There are two pools, fab activates, and a spa, which my wife said was one of the best treatments she ever had. The cocktails at the bar are delicious and they did not skim on the liquor..Kevin and Monique from the bar was so funny and engaging with all the guest. We ate in all the restaurants, the Out House, overlooking the sea has amazing ribs, chicken & salads, it really is a BBQ shack with cold beers from the cooler. All the food was amazing, our favourite was the Spaghetti Pasta with seafood in there Italian restaurant but everything was great & the service was to match, our waiter in pineapple was caring & funny, I think he was called Jason. Great Gym & tennis courts with a tennis pro, the water sports is excellent, Keith taught us both to sail a hobbie cat. We took one tour from the hotel, Calypso Cat, the crew blew us away & so did the Rum Punch.

Good hotel great beach

Posted 05-Aug-2017
Pros: Location and character were great.
Cons: Paintwork needs renewing; bathroom in our room needs upgrading and re-tiling, as well as removal of mould.
Location: The hotel is ideally situated for trips and beaches. We used local taxis for trips out which averaged at $30US each way - cheaper than hiring a car.
The hotel is a tad tired-looking and in need of some updating but overall, it was great. All the staff tripped over themselves to please us and could not have been better. We hope to return in the future.

Nice resort on a beautiful beach.

Posted 04-Jul-2017
Pros: Location, staff, grounds
Cons: Variety of food choices. Stayed less than a week and restaurants seemed to be redundant in food choices.
Location: Great secluded location with wonderful coastal and ocean views. Walking distance to Devil's Bridge National Park. Get taxi for anything else.
As expectations can hurt a trip, we came into the resort with an open mind. Pleasantly surprised by a warm & welcoming staff, and a beautiful waterfront room with a fantastic panoramic view of ocean and beach. All staff very knowledgeable about local sites and things to do and resort also offered various activities and entertainment. Grounds are beautiful and well kept, and Outhouse grill and hilltop gazebos offer wonderful views. Beach felt uncrowded and private.

Great vacation

Posted 16-May-2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Small property with great beach!
Cons: Wifi should be included
Location: The location was on a great beach but far from town. We did two tours one to Barbuda on the Excellence and another to Monserrat.
Everything was great! Staff were very friendly. Drinks were good. Food was hit and miss but always something to eat somewhere trust me you won't go hungry! Beach was fabulous!

Wonderful resort, on the beach, with amazing staff

Posted 15-May-2017
Pros: The wonderful staff
Cons: Bathroom, maybe take out small bath tub and put in a walk in shower
Location: Nothing else to do near, or in St John's. Disappointing shopping there.
I was looking for somewhere that we would get a quiet tranquil vacation on the beach, and I found it here. The staff is amazing, especially Kaydean at reception and Primrose in the buffet restaurant. They are all happy, smiling and helpful. I loved the fact that it was all inclusive and adults only. The food was pretty standard, but well cooked and served with a beaming smile. There was no shortage of beach loungers or loungers around the pool. The beach was fantastic, as was the ocean. I don't know how to really express how we loved it there, but to say that we were very sad to leave, and will be back there again.

Pineapple Beach Club Antigua Review

Posted 15-May-2017
The resort was a little older with only 2 formal restaurants. That's the only downside. The people on this island, and specifically at PBC were the kindest and most sincere, friendly people we have ever met. The simplest request was handled efficiently and with urgency. Will definitely be going back in 2018!!

Paradise Found

Posted 14-May-2017
Pros: Beach, people and elderly friendly
Cons: Have an umbrella in the room for tropical storms. When you call ahead for special needs like ground floor- staff need to pay more attention to request
Location: Island tours, Shirley Heights- food, fun music and sunset, snorkeling and cruises.
We have been back to this place 3 times because it is such a nice place. The beach is really what sells it- turquoise blue water, calm and easy to get into (important for non swimmers and the elderly). It is a small place but that is a good thing if you are looking for a restful vacation. The food is good with a lot of variety, including a great barb b que place up on the hill with fabulous views. Alcoholic drinks tasty and plentiful- beers from the Caribbean. Staff mostly friendly. Many daily activities, water sports and ice cream!! Most of the customers are from England, USA and Canada and all very friendly. Night time entertainment excellent. I'm sure we will be back again!!

Nice hotel, steps away from the beach

Posted 11-May-2017
Pro's. Beach is beautiful, the food is good, especially at the Pineapple grille restaurant and the Outhouse, which is located on top of the hill overlooking the resort. Good nightly entertainment and grounds are beautifully maintained. Cons, I had a beachfront room, the rooms are small, dated and the mattress are uncomfortable, woke up every night itching not due to mosquitoes bites, but from ants and dust mites. There's a fee for Wi-Fi, and don't expect above and beyond treatment because you give tips.
