Portuguese hospitality at its finest. My family were made to feel so welcome here. The balcony on the family room was huge and the rooms were immaculately clean. The best thing was the staff here, so kind and hospitable and really went out of their way in a big way to make us feel at home here. Would highly, highly recommend staying here. Best hotel on the island and best service!

The Hotel Illa is a good budget place in Angra. The rooms were cleaned each day and a good basic breakfast is provided. It is right in the heart of the Old town and close to the Marina. The staff were great! The negatives: No parking, needs some maintenance (peeling paint, rough closing doors etc) Can also be noisy in the mornings with pigeons and sliding furniture and banging doors. Still a good choice if you are not looking a 5*
