"Good location"
This is a well run hotel with a good mix of locals and visitors, however forget about WiFi it exists in name only. To get a good connection in the room was impossible and downstairs was pretty bad.

"What a pleasant surprise! "
We have never stayed at a "Guest House" before and were a bit worried... it was the only room left in the town when we booked so I grabbed it! We were deposited on the side walk outside the door by our cab and we were left in front of a locked door. Rang the door bell and were greeted by a cheerful man who helped us inside with our bags. His wife immediately appeared and showed us around the main floor, nice sitting room with tv, kitchen and dining room where we were being offered breakfast. Then up three flights of stairs, the hosts carried our suitcases up for us. Room was on the smaller size but twin beds as I requested, tv and a large dresser with a generous coffee/tea/cookie offering on it. LArge wardrobe in the corner. The ensuite was compact but quite suitable and fresh. Everything looked like it was freshly renovated and we never heard any sound coming from other rooms (and it was fully booked). Beds comfy, breakfast yummy and fast, and we were very happy there. Internet was easy and we used the front room for entertaining one morning. We stayed for 2 nights and room was freshened for us after the first night. A very nice experience. Would go back in a flash.

"Nice hotel close to town centre"
Nice reasonably priced hotel close to Stornoway town centre and the ferry terminal. Arrived too early to check in but were able to store case at reception and go for a wander. Easy check in, room a little dated but clean and spacious enough. Bed very comfy, brand new bathroom with a fantastic shower. Buffet breakfast very good and had lunch one day - also lovely. Reception phoned for taxi to airport on request. Only complaint - we requested late check out and were told reception would check and we could find out next morning, on speaking to reception next morning it hadn't been checked and we couldn't have it. Would stay here again.

Pocket Guide: Outer Hebrides Amhuinnsuidhe Castle Hotels

Escape the mainland and sail to the beautiful and austere islands in The Outer Hebrides to discover a side of Scotland you might not have seen before.

Harris and the Beautiful Outer Hebrides

Make your trip easier by browsing for accommodation that best suits you using Expedia’s search tool, whether you want a luxurious hotel stay, a homey B&B feel, or a trendy boutique guesthouse in the Western Isles.

See the eerie moonscapes that doubled as Jupiter when Kubrick filmed ‘2001 Space Odyssey’, walk through the flowering machairs (low lying, grassy plains) on the western side of the island, or stroll along white sandy beaches and look out onto the turquoise waters of the Atlantic.

    Feeling Adventurous?

If you are feeling a little more adventurous, take the scenic drive to Hushinish beach, one of the loveliest of the isle, where you can see the islands of Taransay and Scarp. If you keep your eyes sharp, you may just spot dolphins jumping out of the water. On the way to Hushinish, visit the grounds of Amhuinnsuidhe Castle. Built in the 1800s for the 7th Earl of Dunmore, this castle is an impressive building that has since become a hotel. Watch out though; it is said to have a spooky resident, in the form of Lady Sophie Scott, the castle’s ghost!

Discover the gorgeous coastlines, quirky landscape, and supernatural delights of Harris by booking a hotel in this jewel of the Outer Hebrides.
