"Good location"
This is a well run hotel with a good mix of locals and visitors, however forget about WiFi it exists in name only. To get a good connection in the room was impossible and downstairs was pretty bad.

Hebridean Guest House

"Good ALL AROUND."
The Guest House was in a great location and to our surprise, we had no problem parking right out front. There is a lovely park across the street and all amenities are within easy walking distance. The room was very nice and comfortable, and the shower was awesome -- the best of the trip. Breakfast was tasty and hearty. Getting to the ferry was very easy. The Guest House is close to one of the only gas stations on the island. Advice: everything is closed on Sunday on Harris and Lewis. Top up on gas on Saturday!! And as for seeing things, we just went even though they were "closed" on Sunday, the gates were open (e.g. the standing stones), and we went on it and looked around.

Pocket Guide: Outer Hebrides Amhuinnsuidhe Castle Hotels

Escape the mainland and sail to the beautiful and austere islands in The Outer Hebrides to discover a side of Scotland you might not have seen before.

Harris and the Beautiful Outer Hebrides

Make your trip easier by browsing for accommodation that best suits you using Expedia’s search tool, whether you want a luxurious hotel stay, a homey B&B feel, or a trendy boutique guesthouse in the Western Isles.

See the eerie moonscapes that doubled as Jupiter when Kubrick filmed ‘2001 Space Odyssey’, walk through the flowering machairs (low lying, grassy plains) on the western side of the island, or stroll along white sandy beaches and look out onto the turquoise waters of the Atlantic.

    Feeling Adventurous?

If you are feeling a little more adventurous, take the scenic drive to Hushinish beach, one of the loveliest of the isle, where you can see the islands of Taransay and Scarp. If you keep your eyes sharp, you may just spot dolphins jumping out of the water. On the way to Hushinish, visit the grounds of Amhuinnsuidhe Castle. Built in the 1800s for the 7th Earl of Dunmore, this castle is an impressive building that has since become a hotel. Watch out though; it is said to have a spooky resident, in the form of Lady Sophie Scott, the castle’s ghost!

Discover the gorgeous coastlines, quirky landscape, and supernatural delights of Harris by booking a hotel in this jewel of the Outer Hebrides.
