We wanted to visit Alnwick Castle and Garden so chose Castlegate Hotel because of its proximity to this fabulous visitor attraction. We were welcomed by the owner and shown to a large twin bedded room with beautiful colour co-ordinated soft furnishing. Used as an overnight stop for a family of 3 with a teenager. Room was comfortable and spacious with "proper" beds for all ( no fold out or sofa bed) a good sized bathroom, convenient for a drink ( obviously!) Breakfast was excellent and plentiful- cooked breakfast made to order. Staff very helpful and keen to please. Easy stroll down to the seafront/ harbour in Amble. Pub was not noisy even though it was a Saturday night. Would happily use again and recommend.

Our Stay was relaxing and comfortable. All Staff were efficient, courteous and friendly. Location very central. Would recommend it to anybody who would like to stay in a place as a special treat.

The Inn was well situated especially for the castle, room was spacious, warm and well appointed. Shower was excellent, toiletries were pleasantly scented. It would be hard to beat the setting for breakfast in the SS Olympic suite. Staff were helpful and well informed. Would stay again.

Really friendly, helpful staff. Elegant hotel and we all really enjoyed exploring the maze and the beautiful gardens.
