Lovely place to stay, wish we could have stayed longer.

Couldn’t recommend The Tenpus at Charlton Hall more! We stayed in one of the lakeside lodges and had such a lovely relaxing time. We had planned to eat at the Lobster Pot in Bamburgh but lucky for us they were a chef down and couldn’t accommodate us so we ate in the Tempus restaurant which was outstanding. I didn’t catch our servers name but he was so friendly and made us very welcome. Food was delicious. Can’t wait to book again… absolutely loved everything about our visit.

Hotel very tired. I was in a single room which felt very shoehorned in. There were no windows so felt a bit claustrophobic even though a bit of daylight came in from the skylight. The walls around the bed were lined with what looked like untreated wood. The cheap drawers were tatty and looked as if they had been for a while.The shower room was tiny with a tiny sink. There was a kettle but no teabags or coffee. The plus side was that it was clean and handy for the station. I felt that having paid £114 for the night it wasn't good value. Travelling as a single female I wasn't keen on having to go to the busy public bar to check in so I wouldn't recommend it for solo travellers.

This was an ex hotel/pub which provides entry via a code system which requires you to be able to messsge etc beforehand. When finally you do get in you're presented with a mothballed bar and then have to find your way from there. Breakfast, which I avoided, was a selection of biscuits and chocolate bars on a tiny tray. I won't be back. If you're okay with this sort of approach you might be okay with it, but it could never be called good. Look around, there's other, better places out there.
