Stayed with my husband for our Wedding Anniversary and it was amazing. The Hotel knew this and left us a lovely note and some chocolates in our room for when we arrived, what a lovely surprise. We went to the Spa for a swim and sauna, we almost fell asleep on the beds we were so relaxed.

A near perfect stay at Delta hotels. The food, staff and pool were perfect. The only minus was the room’s bathroom which desperately needs an upgrade. Otherwise a great hotel next to the racecourse with a beautiful walk down the river into York. Would definitely come back.

I love the design of the Indigo hotels and this one is no different. Staff very friendly. Location good with lots of bars, restaurants and independent shops nearby. (The Spanish restaurant across the road is really friendly as we popped in for a glass of fizz. ) would definitely recommend it

What a beautiful hotel next to the river a nice walk to the centre of York. Staff so friendly and helpful clean and comfortable apartment. With everything you wanted in a
apartment. We even asked to have a look at the 2 bedroom penthouse suite and was given a guided tourer, we will book the penthouse suite on our next visit with friends. And with free tea/coffee in the lobby. A great 2 nights stay could not ask for more.

We have read other reviews regarding this hotel some of them not very complimentary frankly they are obviously deranged.
Our experience was excellent, the hotel was clean, the rooms comfortable with everything we needed for our stay.
The staff were friendly and attentive especially Stuart whom served us our breakfasts for our 2 day stay
We couldn't work out what any poor review was based on unless those people were extremely pretentious and thoughts they deserved better?

We had a lovely stay at Marmadukes. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and when we had a problem with our room we were moved straight away without any fuss. It's a beautiful building and in a great location from which to discover York. Would definitely recommend!

The best area to stay in Acaster Malbis for most travellers is within the village centre itself, particularly around the main street, Mill Lane.
This area offers a pleasant, rural setting with easy access to the River Ouse. You'll find a few local amenities here, including traditional pubs and village shops. It's a quiet location, providing a restful escape from city life, yet it's still conveniently close to York.
Couples often find the village centre an ideal spot for a relaxing break. You can enjoy strolls along the riverbank, dine at a country pub, and take advantage of the short drive or bus ride into York for more extensive sightseeing and dining options. It provides a peaceful base with the option for city exploration.
For those prioritising quick access to the city of York while still enjoying a village feel, staying just outside the immediate centre of Acaster Malbis, closer to the A64, can be a good option.
When is the best time to go to Acaster Malbis?
The best time to visit Acaster Malbis is typically during the late spring, summer, and early autumn months, from May to September, when the weather is generally mild and pleasant.
During these months, you'll find the most favourable conditions for enjoying outdoor activities, such as walking along the River Ouse or exploring the surrounding countryside. The longer daylight hours also allow for more extensive sightseeing in nearby York, which is easily accessible from Acaster Malbis.
For those looking for a quieter experience with fewer crowds, visiting in May or September can be ideal. The weather is still agreeable, and you can often find good value on accommodation before or after the peak summer season. This period is particularly good for travellers who appreciate a more relaxed pace.
The summer months of July and August offer the warmest temperatures and the fullest range of local events and attractions, both in Acaster Malbis itself and in the wider York area.
