You can easily see why Rafters was awarded a 5 Star AA rating in 2023 - well done Sigrid!! Would make Rafters my first choice if I needed to stay in this area again. Peter May."

"The cottage and the entire property are beautiful and well maintained. The staff is very courteous and accommodating. The cottage is fully stocked with everything a guest may require. The fridge was stocked with milk, a pack of bacon, a pack of cheese and wine. Fruits and homemade marmalade were also left for us. All very thoughtful and welcoming. "Lovely cottage. Spacious. Well equipped. Beautiful gardens. Fabulous pool with adult only times at each end of the day - perfect temperature, clean & a good size. "It is a beautiful luxurious hotel with a superb spa. Rooms were nice and bedding very comfortable. Grey's restaurant food is average and very limited choice and overhyped but breakfast was excellent. The biggest surprise on checking out was that they charged 10% service charge on the whole bill including the room charge that was prepaid on Hotels.com. There was no warning and left a bitter taste. "Lovely house, room was a good size, comfortable bed, decent linen. Good onsuite shower. Breakfast preordered and delivered to room as still have Covid restriction in place. Parking available but a bit tight getting in and out if other cars there. Hosts friendly and gave us a warm welcome. Definitely better than Doubletree Hotel down the road and half the price. "

The room was tidy and well equipped with the necessary toiletries and refreshments to use. Breakfast (full English) was cooked on demand with self service for toast,cereals and juices,teas and coffees. For a Public House with accommodation to provide this level of service shows dedication to the hospitality sector. "

"Great England experience in a 1000 year old inn. Central and authentic. Loved the room over the entrance with views all around. Didn’t mind banging my head on the door frame too much, but I am 5’7”! Great pub downstairs. Not modern but that is what we were looking for."
