"There are no pictures on any website about the garden wing. It is a concrete block that looks awful from the outside - this is where the standard rooms are so not in the main hotel. Complete misrepresentation/advertising. Our room however was exactly like the photo so it’s just the outside that is awful. Food was nice in the evening - you get a £29 allowance for dinner, so you can get a main and dessert. There was a wedding party on the Saturday night so getting a drink at the bar was hard before the evening meal and then they had no wine glasses and we had to remind staff about our drinks when the meal was served. We had practically finished our meal by the time they arrived! They seemed very short staffed. We did mention this to reception who said they would speak to beverage manager but we never heard anything back and nothing was said when we checked out. Pool is nice but changing rooms are best avoided - i walked in and walked straight back out! Main hotel areas are nice and restaurant has been newly decorated but unfortunately for dinner both evenings we were placed in a funny corridor like room - it did have views over the grounds but it did feel you were placed out of the way. Good base to explore Oxford if you get a cheap deal. It seems they are trying to renovate the hotel but some areas are a bit shabby. Advertising needs to show pictures of the garden wing! Advertised as check in from 2 pm but our room wasn’t ready by then."

"Beautiful room, lovely cookies on arrival and excellent shower. Restaurant and bar area is fab, really lively and good atmosphere. Attentive staff and delicious breakfast. Would highly recommend."

"Comfortable beds.....pillows could have been better though.. liked the extras we had in mini fridge..and replenished if you asked. A bit noisy in corridor late at night....midnight...doors banging!!!.. breakfast good...plenty of choices"

"We enjoyed a beautiful experience at this Hotel. Location and history was perfect. We had a delicious dinner that was prepared perfectly. Staff were very helpful for the short time we were there!"

"The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was a mini fridge that kept my water cold. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great for the price. All in all, first class."

"Good stay, Very good breakfast. Amy, staff at reception was very polite and helpful. Room had a slight odour, possibly due to a previously leaking air conditioning unit which left a large dark patch on the carpet."
