Fantastic hotel in great location whether you prefer the calm of the Atlantic coast or the bustle of Porto. Lovely rooms with great ocean views( best to ensure you take a sea view room). Hotel food was great - lower restaurant was better value. Service was excellent from reception to restaurant and bar staff. Spa and pool were quiet and very relaxing. Beautiful former palace, we arrived early (11.00) expecting to just leave our luggage but the reception staff checked and our room was ready. We were treat to a glass of port in the lounge (hall of mirrors) and then shown to our room with explanations of where all the facilities were located and how things worked in the room. The hotel has a spectacular position overlooking the river and historical centre of Porto. Service was excellent and not overbearing. Breakfast and dining generally were high quality. The outside pool area is lovely. You can walk down to the river direct from the hotel, where there are a lot of bars and restaurants - it is however quite a steep path, so perhaps not suitable for all. Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed in a gorgeous room (suite) for four nights. It had a huge sitting area and a lovely big balcony with a great view. It wasn’t far from the old town and was a really nice walk along the river to get to everywhere. Great breakfasts, stunning rooftop bar, and a nice spa for a little wind down time too. Particularly loved the free items from the mini bar and the birthday cake, they gave my sister. Highly recommend.
