"A poor start hid the good parts. "
Jurys Inn Glasgow is perfectly situated in the heart of the city centre alongside the river. The shopping streets are just steps away with terrific and endless shopping and cafes. The restaurant manager Marta deserves extra credit for giving us a free Welcome to Glasgow breakfast on the morning we arrived. There are two restaurants with good food that are ready and eager to serve you in the evenings. Now the frustrating part. Our transatlantic flight arrived early morning and we found ourselves at the hotel lobby around 10 am. Sometimes hotels can accommodate you that early. The young lady at the reception desk responded to our check in request with what I would call a "repel" more than a response. And she was moving away quickly as she repelled us so it was hard to keep up. Anyways, our bag stayed in storage until early afternoon when we checked in, and when it came time to retrieve them, the same young lady demanded we entered the storage room to identify our bags because she was frustrated at having to identify them. Not a great way to start a holiday! But thanks to Marta who detected the frustration and offered us free breakfast! I phoned room service and asked for a sandwich, but apparently I hadn't given my credit card to the front desk, so the response on the other end of the phone was simply "no." Overall, it's a chain hotel. Rooms are decent and the rest of the service was pretty good. Cheers!

"Great hotel with a couple issues (see below)"
I was given a "disabled" room... generally OK but sink way too low. The area seems to be a place where youths drag race up and down the street after 9 pm... noisy.

"Fantastic Hotel!"
Absolutely fantastic hotel. Loved the modern trendy look throughout the hotel - the bar and restaurant areas are cool and trendy with a good choice of food and beers. The bedroom had everything you would need, aircon, toiletries, tea / coffee facilities, iron / ironing board and even a fantastic 60 inch Smart TV with full Sky TV package!! Free, fast wifi in the room was a bonus and much appreciated. Add to this inexpensive breakfasts and friendly staff this hotel is doing everything right in my opinion. Didn't try the leisure club due to arriving late but will try to next time.

Very comfortable room, although the noise of the air conditioning unit (I think) outside the window was a bit irritating, lovely staff, ideal location. We will definitely stay there again next time we are in Glasgow, but next time we will ask for a room which looks out onto the square rather than onto the courtyard. The only thing that lets it down is the rather average breakfast - I ordered scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, the eggs (tasteless and watery) had been sitting on the hot counter for quite a while, then ladled onto the plate with the salmon and left there to chill nicely until one of the waitresses got round to bringing me the plate. the salmon was too salty, not very tender and heavily smoked - overall, not very nice. My husband was disappointed with the sausages, which looked very inviting but he said had very little flavour.

"Great hotel but staff took the shine off"
The hotel is beautiful and in a great location near some very nice bars and restaurants. The decor of the hotel is traditional and very well done, in keeping with the period of the building. The only thing that really did take the shine off was the attitude of the staff. None of them were particularly rude but we found them very unwelcoming and cold.

"Overnight stay"
First of all the location on this hotel is great. Had lots of amenities within walking distance. Upon arrival staff were pleasant and welcoming. Our room was on the second floor and it was lovely. Very large spacious room with a lovely big bed. huge bathroom with fluffy towel and nice toiletries.

"Nice hotel, convenient position"
This is the second time we have stayed at the Hallmark. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable with easy to control heating. Bathroom well appointed with very good (over bath) shower. Breakfast was self service, with a good choice. Unfortunately, the tea is served at table from a pot, carried around by the staff and never seemed to be just made. The coffee, similarly served was rather weak, but hot enough. One of the reasons we chose this hotel is that we enjoyed using the pool on our first visit. Unfortunately it was not available on this occasion as it was having maintenance. We had dinner on one night. It wasn't great quality and not great value for money.
