"Absolutely loved the atmosphere! Old school turned into a hotel, wood-fired sauna in its own building, food and herbs from their own garden.
Bathtub was good-sized, bed was surprisingly comfortable and I personally loved that I could open the windows in my suite. Little bit of creaking here and there, but it didn't bother me.
The staff were very friendly and calm, loved to spend time with them. I highly recommend to try activities available, the staff really know what they are doing.

"Spectacular location right opposite the castle. It’s on the edge of the town. Great host, and I was surprised there were not more people staying when I was there."
"I was met by the owner Passi who was waiting for me. I had booked into one of the apartments but wes told that I was staying in one of the cottages by the lake.
Passi took me to the cottage which has its own wood burning sauna and stunning views looking out to Lake Orivesi.
It was really peaceful and it has its own private beach and a rowing boat plus a swing which I must admit I spent quite a bit of time on there.
The centre of Kitee is about 20 minutes away in a car so if like me you do not...

"Wonderful camping. Camping itself is quite big. You can choose to live in apartment, villa, small og big cabin, tent or park a camper. Shared kitchen and wc/douche are clean and big enough. Camping offers free sauna every morning which we enjoued much. You cal also find a private beach and orhet places where you can swim in the lake. Mojority of cabins have a lave wiev. You cal also find a good restorant in campings area and mini waterpark which is popular among kids. Lady in reception is very polite and explains everything we were intrested in."
"Very disappointing. Hotel deceptive on booking site as many facilities offered were not available. Definitely not ‘Nature’ Hotel. Hotel old building on busy road being renovated and was not finished. Rooms small and hot. Reception was 1k away. No staff on site except breakfast cook who could not speak English. Breakfast on first day was preprepared. Nowhere to leave bags after checkout. Towels thin and old. No bedside lamps, no kettle, no onsite cafe.
However staff at reception were helpful and made numerous trips to hotel to solve problems, and Finnish cook on site did his best as well.staff went above and beyond their roles to try to make stay pleasant despite problems.
Definitely not what was advertised on Hotels.com. And not worth the money.

Eastern Finland is a region known for its stunning natural beauty, peaceful lakes, and charming towns, but when it comes to nightlife, the options are somewhat limited compared to larger cities.
In the city of Joensuu, you'll find a lively atmosphere, especially among the university crowd. The bustling street of Kauppakatu is where many bars and pubs are located, offering a mix of live music venues and cosy taverns. Here, you can enjoy a pint of local craft beer or dance the night away in a club.
In Kuopio, the nightlife scene thrives around the city centre, with venues along the Market Square (Kauppatori) and the waterfront. This area features a variety of bars and restaurants that often host live music events and themed nights, providing a great social scene for both locals and visitors.
For a more laid-back evening, head to the lakeside cafés and bars in towns like Savonlinna, where you can unwind with a drink while enjoying beautiful views of the water, especially during the summer months.
