Very comfortable stay

Posted 25-May-2015
Pros: The room, breakfast and front office staff.
Cons: WiFi. A hotel bar would have been nice, too.
Location: Close to train & bus stations, and near to Riva Di Biasio water-bus stop. Good, well-priced restaurants nearby but bit of a hike to St Mark's Square.
For a hotel out of Venice's madding crowds, this takes some beating. Very helpful, friendly and easy to get to, it suited our purposes for a 2-night visit perfectly. WiFi could have been better but everything else worked well, room was clean and comfy and the front office staff couldn't do enough to help. Great value.

Just heads up: Google maps the route incorrectly. It's an easy walking distance from the station but once you go over the bridge, go left, not right like the map route shows. Two restaurants right by the hotel. Don't forget to try chichetti in town.

Off the Beaten Path, But That's a Good Thing

Posted 09-May-2015
Pros: The hotel was situated away from the major tourist traffic areas and quite quiet at night. This made for a somewhat romantic walk back to the hotel.
Cons: There was only one shelf to place luggage on. I had to make my own space on the floor for another luggage.
Location: Most of the major attractions and shopping are a 20-25 minute walk. The train station is only a 10 minute walk.
Venice is very confusing. Luckily, our hotel was not too far from the train station. It is however, a bit far from the major tourist areas like the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. That's a good thing though. Everything is still within walking distance, it's just a bit confusing because of how the city of Venice is laid out. I would recommend having your GPS handy as well as a map. The hotel itself was decent. The room had the normal amenities we expected, but I would've liked more floor room for me to place my luggage. We only stayed the night and had breakfast the next morning so I didn't experience much of the hotel. I can say though that the staff was very helpful in giving directions and providing a wall converter in order for us to charge our electronic devices. All in all, it was a pleasant stay at the hotel.

Colourful hotel in a quieter corner of town

Posted 19-Apr-2015
Pros: The staff and the decor.
And I mean colourful in an interior decor sense - exactly as the website promises. Nothing bland about this place. We thought it was great! Only a fifteen minute walk from the bus station but check you understand the directions. It's in a quiet location but only a five minute walk from several restaurants in and around Campo San Giacomo dell'Orio. The staff were unfailingly charming, helpful and courteous - a real credit to the hotel - in the face of our new-to-Venice questions and were happy to supply hot water on request to keep us fruit tea drinkers happy. Our ageing backs found the beds a bit too firm, but we accept you can't please all of the people all of the time. Would definitely go again.
