“A beautiful Venetian hotel”
The Colombina is just a few minutes walk away from San Marco. It sits right on a canal and has an entrance at the water's edge (as well as a land based one!) So if you are investing in a water taxi from the airport it is hugely convenient. The hotel itself is clean and quaint - exactly how you imagine a hotel in Venice to be. The staff were friendly, courteous and couldn't be more helpful, always ready to pull out their never ending supply of maps to direct you around the labyrinthine network of streets and waterways. Breakfast was typically continental and plentiful - fill up on fruit, croissant, cheeses, meats and good coffee and you are well prepared for the day ahead. The hotel bar is not cheap, but reasonable for Venice and they do a great Bellini - very welcome as a treat before bed! A highly recommended hotel and a great base to explore this amazing city.
“Fantastic!”
Loved this hotel, very friendly helpful staff, clean room and fantastic location.
“Top quality room and location”
The top quality room, breakfast, concierge services and additional touches all contributed to a fantastic, memorable stay that entirely befitted the nature of our trip. Add all this to a location that is central to all of Venice main attractions (and still quiet!) and you have a top- class hotel in every respect.
“Great hotel in a fantastic location”
This hotel is in such a convenient place. Just a short walk from St Mark's. The hotel is lovely, with a large breakfast choice and very friendly and helpful staff. Internet access in the lobby. We would stay again.
“superb location”
This was our first time in Venice and the Hotel could not have been in a better location to explore the city. It has its own dock and while its not a cheap option I would certainly recommend getting a water taxi straight from the airport to the door as not only does it take away the inconvenience of dragging cases onto the water bus and then trying to find the hotel through the maze of side streets but it also allows you to see the city in all its glory right from the outset. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I couldn't fault them throughout our stay. You are literally a few minutes walk from St Marks Square and all it has to offer in the surrounding area but yet the hotel is in a quiet enough area to get a good nights sleep. I did notice that a few other reviews were critical of the breakfast but I cant agree, its a standard continential breakfast and as they serve until 10.30am its perfect if you like a lie in. The rooms aren't huge (we had a delux) but they are big enough for what you need and unless you are prepared to pay a huge premium to stay in one of the so called luxury hotels then I dont really think you can complain. My only criticism is the fact that the bar closed at 11pm sharp and no matter what they wouldn't entertain the idea of getting you a drink, it would have been nice to have had the option of a night cap after returning from a meal or a stroll but the mini bar in the room was reasonably priced so no real problem.
“Great location”
Great hotel in a great location a few minutes fron St Mark's Square. Room was very clean and comfortable and the service welcoming. Good buffet breakfast to set you up well for a days walking. Can't wait to go back!
“Amazing New Year”
I took my girlfriend to Venice as a surprise to celebrate the New Year. The hotel was fantastic- excellent location and stunning views from our room. The hotel is just 2 mins from St Mark's Sq (and easy to find). The service was superb- staff were really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was lovely. We would happily recommend this hotel to others and can't wait to go back!!!
“Magical short vacation”
Superb hotel located in a quiet lane two minutes walk from St Marks square. We had a very comfortable room overlooking the canal which we can recommend- lovely to open the shutters and watch gondolas gliding by. I wouldn't like to have found the hotel at night - we arrived by water bus and got lost a couple of times. Water taxi from the airport would be preferable at these times although expensive. As we were only there for three days there was no time to visit galleries or the opera- perhaps a note of forthcoming events in the room would be nice. Overall a perfect weekend
“Room with a View”
The Columbina is a small intimate hotel a stones throw from St Marks Sq. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We had the room in the attic which meant we had lovely views of the dome of St Marks. The room is quirky in that it has sloped ceilings with exposed beams more reminiscent of a cottage in the Cotswolds. The bathroom too had a fun side as you need to sit in a half bath to shower. The public areas were more typically Venetian. We enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return. However the attic room may not be for you if you are above average height.
“intimate, luxury hotel”
We loved the imtimate cosy luxury hotel everything was immaculate, clean to the highest standard, the attension to detail was so impressive, its location is quite easy to find even if you use the local waterbus and then walk through st marks square which is literately a stones throw away. every member of staff spoke english and were very helpful, we would definatley go back.

Area:
San Marco, Venice, Italy: San Marco (St Marks) is quintessential visitors Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.
