We had our own little room with a lovely bathroom.. The breakfast was amazing, it's not everyday you get offered smoked salmon for breakfast . Rooms needed 5 light bulbs so attention to detail needs fixing. .
it was great when we drove to the hotel and saw this huge peaceful natural vegetation. We couldn't wait to get changed and explore the surroundings.
My kids loved it especially walking around the beautiful lake.
Very good .
I stayed with my 6 year old son after a trip to Longleat, I booked and only saw the old pictures. Well When we arrived, I was can say I most shocked at how lovely it was and the friendlyness of the staff, it also has free secured parking. The room was modern and clean and had everything you need.
It was good to stay in a hotel which is different to the more modern spa hotels where all the rooms are the same.
The staff are keen to assist in any way they can. The receptionist remembered my name and staff in the restaurant had the knack of being there when needed and somewhere else when not. The restauant may not be to everyone's taste. It seeks to be high cuisine which means the food is very good but the portions, whilst adequate, may seem a bit small to some. It is also expensive. However, unusually for this type of restaurant there are some reasonably priced wines available. I would recommend that guests try the restauant at least once but if you prefer something more homely there is a really good pub about 200 yards away with a thatched roof, cask ales and the home baked pies are just brilliant.
Breakfast at this hotel is teriffic. Its not the usual buffet available in most hotels anywhere on the planet - you order what you want and they prepare it fresh. Try the porridge - its great - actually, so are the muffins and eggs, - and the salmon - and the full English and the coffee - they even get the toast right!
The spa is very good. It is small but there is a hot tub, warm pool (not really big enough to swim in) a sauna, steam room , laconium and various showers. They also let you wander around the hotel in your bathrobes.
This is a good hotel which is not pretentious in any way. I would have no hesitation in recomending it to friends.

Bannatyne's Charlton House is just about as far away from the stuffy, uptight country house hotel of old as you can get …More
