“Holiday Inn Soho”

good accessible neighbourhood surrounded by several restaurants from little italy and china town good bargains at souvenir stores next to the subway, easy access to the city $10-$15 cab ride from the city rooms and gym smaller than shown on website friendly housekeeping and reception

Area recommendations

if you're into bargains, the location is just few miles away from the Canal st subway which is just a bit sketchy to go through at night but it is only U$10-15 taxi cab ride from the main city, Manhattan. the neighbourhood is a few blocks away from chinatown and little italy which is surrounded by several restaurants.

after thanksgiving-the shopping is awesome (:

“Nice”

The location and price made this a no brainier. Staff was always helpful, stored our luggage after we checked out,. The room was bigger than I expected being we were in Manhattan, and while not perfectly groomed, it was very nice with comfortable beds and clean shower hot shower/bath. Canal subway stop very close as was SoHo shops.

“I would stay there again.”

Our room was small but we were gone so much, it didn't matter. It was clean and the the stafff was very helpful to a tourist trying to get around. Loved the area. Easy subway access. Enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

“Convenient Location, Nice Place to Stay”

This hotel was conveniently located near the Canal Street subway station, which gives you easy access to just about everywhere. You can haggle with a street vendor outside your door or head down the street to trendy Soho boutiques. The rooms were small but comfortable and hotel was clean overall, but could've used a litlle extra TLC in a few spots for the terminal neat freak. Bellmen were very friendly and helpful. Ask about the car service to airport. And if you're in the mood to order in, check out Lombardi's Pizza. Super fresh and delicious. The place is a great value.

Getting around

Get itrans application. It's well worth the $3.99 to seem informed on all the possible subway routes. This app also avoids transfers whenever possible.

Dining

The Kitchenette in TriBeCa had an outstsnding breakfast. The turkey sausage had a delicious meatloaf quality and the French door motif was very cool.

Nightlife

The Blue Note is a favorite for the very best jazz. It's a long walk or short subway ride from the hotel and tickets are $20-35. A great free venue to see up and comers is the Rockwood Music Hall in the Bowery.

“Great location for shopping, Little Italy, Chinatown and lots of subways”

Good location and quiet at night. Room is very standard, a bit out of date but perfectly clean and the bed was comfy.

I wouls recommend staying in this area of you want a good base with fast access to the subway and not too much traffic noise.

Clean hotel, but staff was unenthusiastic. While I purchased a room with 2 queen beds, I received a room with one double and one twin pullout mattress. They said all other rooms were occupied.

“Great position”

Holiday Inn SoHo is right in the heart of Chinatown, New York, and Little Italy is just a stone's throw away. Great location, in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Downtown Manhattan - and yet the room was comfortable and clean (though shabby because it was just going to be refurbished) and quiet at night. Hotel staff were very curtious and helpful. We ate at different restaurants in Chinatown and Little Italy all the time and were very satisfied with the meals. The hotel was not to far away to walk to the Brooklyn Bridge and there was a subway (Canal Street) just around the corner - very convenient for going uptown to Times Square, The Empire State Building, 5th Avenue shops, Central Park, etc, etc. I'd definitely stay there again.

“Very nice hotel”

This hotel was conveniently located near subway stops and within walking distance of Chinatown and Little Italy. The front desk staff was extremely helpful in giving directions etc. The room was a little small, but very acceptable. Overall a very nice hotel!
